Ron hopped up from his chair as soon as Stephanie came walking back out of the bedroom. Hands buried into the pocket of his own hoodie, he nodded briskly and started for the door. The sooner they started walking, the better. Not because that meant that Ron was going to have to actually say something - Ron didn't even know what he was supposed to be saying as of yet - but because it'd give them something more to do than awkwardly behave around one another in their flat. No, instead, they'd be behaving awkwardly around one another wherever they decided to walk. Yeah, because that's so much better, that sarcastic little voice in Ron's head groaned.
Ron pulled the door to their apartment open and led the way down and out to the front of the building. He didn't know where Steph wanted to walk or if she had a certain direction in mind, so Ron waited for her at the end of the sidewalk and didn't move until she chose a direction herself. It wasn't too hot outside. Not terribly cold, either. Ron looked down at his feet, jaw tightening a little when he realized where his mind was going. He was not going to make any remarks about the weather. He might have been awkward, but he was not going to further that by slapping on weather discussions on top of that, even if it was a way to keep the two of them from exploding from the uncomfortable mess that was between them.
"It's been a while since you've fancied going out and about at night like this without that costume of yours on, eh?" There. Still awkward, but it was a start. Better than the weather, wasn't it? And it wasn't completely out of the blue. Stephanie hadn't been patrolling as much lately. Ron wasn't going to be the one to complain about it since that meant he could spend more time with her than usual, but it was still true.
