There were no words in all the earth to express how much Ruby did not want to do this. In other circumstances it might have been nice. Inviting the 'family' over to her and Sam's place for dinner, ordering a takeout. Having a nice evening where no one tried to send her back to hell. Getting Hermionie more into the group. There were a lot of ways Ruby would have wanted the evening to go. But it wasn't going to go at all that way because instead she was going to have to tell them that Azazel was back and that she'd known it. She'd been more than aware of it for two weeks. But the hurt was of course from the fact that Sam had immediatly assumed she had been protecting her old Boss, and for once she'd actually been doing what she thought was the right thing by the Winchesters. But of course she hadn't been had she? Not according to Sam. No, she was wrong again and she was terrifed that it had been the final straw for him, that he didn't love her anymore, that he had given it his best efforts but in the end she was a demon and he was a hunter and that had finally proven to be too much for them to cope with.
They sat in cold uncomfortable silence waiting for his family to arrive, waiting for her to break this news all over again in the most horrible of ways. The demon that had ripped their lives apart was back, was active again and Ruby had known. She desperately needed to see John and Mary, needed to know he hadn't gotten to them yet. He'd said if she told then they'd be first and it would be her fault. Sam and Dean had lost so much to Azazel and Adam had just found his father again, he was just discovering his family. This other side of it.
"I'm scared Sam" she said simply. "Not cause of what they might do but cause they're not going to believe me either. They'll think I was protecting him too won't they? Just like you do. Just like you're willing to believe about the woman you supposedly love with all your heart" She was mad at him, more to the point she was mad at herself. She didn't know what to do to make this better which essentially meant she'd screwed up again. Cause thats what she did, that's what she brought to Sam's life. And maybe now he saw that, maybe that was it for them. She didn't know what she'd do if it was.
"I'm not on his side. I haven't been in over a year." she added quietly knowing the words would fall of deaf ears.
