She wasn't sure what had turned around in the past couple of days, but she liked it. There had been a gloomy cloud hanging over everyone involved in fighting the apocalypse since War had turned them all against each other and the entire town had gone nuts. Hurt feelings, physical bruises and wounds, and a whole lot of cranky. Then it was just gone and everything was good again. The world had gotten brighter, things seemed better. Who cared if the world was going to end? There was so much to enjoy!

Like coffee, a drink that both she and Kennedy had relied on heavily when it came to running their cell in New York. The constant demon fighting, vampire staking, and general bump in the night removal took a lot of energy and there was enough of them that sleep hadn't really been abundant. Oh well. They were here now. And there was an afternoon of shopping ahead of them, whatever they wanted, after they caught up over coffee. This was the kind of afternoon she liked having.

"I love coffee," Vi said as she accepted the cup from the vendor. "It's so warm and caffeinated and comforting. I don't know how I survived before it."

Coffee was the greatest and best invention ever. There was no question about that. And drinking coffee with her best friend and sister slayer while being entirely enthused about the whole possibly maybe having a girlfriend now thing was pretty damn amazing. And then shopping. It was funny, she hadn't liked shopping before, even a little bit. But she liked it now. Even if she didn't have her families money here.

The vendor seemed as happy as they were to complete the transaction. He looked so pleased with his little stall, his life. And why wouldn't he be? Life, as it happened was pretty damn awesome in Capital A Apocolypse land. "I sincerely believe life formed from coffee, it just did one day, one day there was nothing and then there was coffee and then there were humans. We should see if we can ask the First Slayer, bet she knows all sorts of stuff about coffee" she said watching as cars zoomed through red light after red light, not bound by the boring rules of the road anymore. Why would they bother with something so dull?

"Did I tell you about Needy yet? Cause seriously, she's pretty damn awesome, and I didn't think I stood a chance but yay for bisexuals. Even if they are all confusing when you're trying to figure out if they like you. Is it easier with men?" she ventured amused, "I completely bet its easier...ooh cookies!" she finished, handing over a dollar and taking two of the chocolate chip kind handing one to Vi.

"Coffee or Chocolate though?" she asked suddenly overly curious about what the answer might be.

"The question of what came first, the chicken or the egg, has finally been answered. It's neither because the true answer is coffee!" Vi chirped happily. "Wouldn't it be cool if the seal brought her here? I used to think she sounded very intimidating but she would be cool to meet. She is the originator of our line, after all. The First Slayer. The original badass," she rambled on thoughtfully.

The sound of metal crunching caught her attention, abruptly ending that line of reasoning. A car had collided with the back end of another and as she watched, both drivers got out and shrugged before clapping each other on the shoulder and waving it off. "See, that's the way you should react after an accident." It was so nice to see people getting along for once! No one was arguing or complaining or whining and she felt good about life and they felt good about life. It was just amazing.

"You told me a little!" she answered as she took the cookie from Kennedy. One bite and she closed her eyes, making a little sound as she chewed. "That is a delicious cookie." The snack savored, she opened her eyes as she took another bite. "I'm happy that she's bisexual too because you guys get to have a relationship if you want one." She tilted her head thoughtfully. "With some men. Others it isn't. Like the ones that are all mysterious and you have to figure out if they like you. It's like a challenge, which is good!"

Kennedy's question was met with a moment of silence as Vi considered it. "Both," she replied. "They make us feel good so obviously choosing is unnecessary."

“So the Chicken had the coffee, produced the egg and that's how it happened!” They’d solved it, just the two of them. That’s what happened when life was good and the world was a better place for it, everyone was happy, everyone was content and that made Kennedy happier than she thought she must have been in years. She was also pretty sure the First Slayer would have been happy too. That she’d have just showed up, explained everything and then she and Vi could buy her modern clothes and teach her about computers and the world and whatever else she wanted to know, it would be fun, and doing a service to the girl both had always wanted to meet. “I bet she was badass even before they demon...ed her up a bit. Like cave Hunter girl. Bet she was the best of them.”

She watched the accident too, mostly idly, it was just an accident, both of the guys seemed more than happy to brush it off, in fact they walked off in the same direction toward a bar...and by walked, Kennedy meant stumbled, drunk, both of them. Still they looked like they were having fun with it so who was anyone to judge them. She’d stick to her coffee though, nothing in the world like coffee and cookies with your best friend. “It could be, I want one, I completely want one. It’s fun to think about, there could be like dates and all sorts of things, dates...haven’t done all that in forever” she added amused, “So tell me about these mysterious men. I could help!” she told her over excitedly, she knew about love and relationships and all that stuff. She could be some kind of amazing Dr Phil type, that could be fun. “Anyone here? Cause its weird, Needy’s not from here or home, but she’s still awesome, Buffy said she was like a Slayer, not the Buffy now, the Buffy before.” she clarified.

And the important question, possibly the most important was answered to her satisfaction. “Combining the two has to have been invented by like, a god or something. I wanna look into it someday, and...fancy coffees. I wanna try all of the fancy coffees”

It should have made no sense whatsoever, the tangent the two of them were on. In fact, it should have seemed absolutely ridiculous. But it wasn't. There was nothing to be wrong about, no anger or embarrassment or frustration that went with being wrong, so they had to be right. Everyone was right because that was just the way things were going right now, which had to make people happier. "Absolutely. That's probably why they chose her was because she could hunt and kill like no one's business." She was proud to inherit the power that had been bestowed on that girl because she was the best, which meant they were the best too.

"You can date here!" Not that she couldn't back in New York but they had been so busy all the time. Guy shopping, or girl shopping in Kennedy's case, just hadn't been budgeted in to free time. But here, they weren't cell leaders so they had a little more time to themselves. "You guys should go out to dinner somewhere really nice," she suggested, waving a hand in the air. "Then go see a movie or take a walk and talk." She broke off another piece of cookie. "This is the best cookie ever." She glanced over at Kennedy. "No one in particular but there are a lot of cute guys at the complex who are mysterious. It's like a museum of hotness." She ate the piece of cookie before nodding in excitement. "She is like a Slayer. She kicks ass like us and sort of has abilities like us. She's an honorary Slayer!"

The thought of chocolate coffee was heavenly. She'd never heard of it, but then again, she usually went for straight coffee, which was just as good. "You could put a lot of stuff in coffee. Like caramel coffee. We could try all the fancy coffees at the place we're going to. They're bound to have a lot of them!"

It made perfect sense. The First Slayer was obviously the very best out of her tribe or whatever and they'd made her the Slayer because of all that, and then down the line of awesome right up to them, even if there were lots of them now, that was awesome cause they were like a huge kickass family. And Kennedy knew she wouldn't have been the Potential called, she was already way too old by the time the spell was cast. It was awesome. They were awesome. "Being a Slayer really is just all kinds of badass isn't it!" she exclaimed, "And she's I guess like the Queen of us. A Cavewoman Queen"

Vi was talking about dates and walking and movies which Kennedy hadn't gotten to do in years, That would be amazing and now she had time. This place was awesome. It was better wasn't it, not to be busy like they had been in New York. "I'll take her out somewhere. I might even work more hours so I can pay for dinner, I know that happens on dates, Willow insisted on paying our first date cause I already had all the money ever. I don't have here which makes it all cute and equal with dinner paying. Should we split the bill? We should entirely split the bill." Mysterious complex guys, Kennedy thought about it not having noticed many. "There's the Winchesters I guess but I think I'd go mad if I was into guys and dating them, or Xander but that'd be weird wouldn't it, he's like some kind of older brother kinda guy, also the wrath of the Anya. Ooh Spike? Um... That Lawyer from evil LA, The Jedi guy...Friggin GAMBIT is in the complex. I mean I'm strictly girls and even I'd look twice. Oh there's FBI Angel?"

She was proud of her list just off the top of her head, there were many many choices for Vi. Kennedy had her honorary Slayer though and that was good enough for her, she was hot, she was feisty and she could kick ass. She'd think more about the dating stuff after the coffee. "Ice coffee, you can get that too, it's like a caffinated milkshake of glorious splenderous taste!"

"Being a Slayer is like winning the girl power lottery." If she had been in her right mind, Vi would have cringed at the words coming out of her mouth. But now they only sounded right. Everything sounded right. "We save the world from apocalypses, vampires, and evil. We make it look good and awesome." They were super chicks with super powers. "She's the Slayer Queen!" She'd heard girls refer to Buffy as that, and the title did fit her, but the First Slayer was the first of them all. She really deserved the title.

"Definitely split the bill. Make sure you tell her though because then she'll known to bring money too." She couldn't have been happier that Kennedy was finally getting some personal time with someone she really liked. They worked hard and personal lives were not really something they had the chance to indulge in often. But here she'd found a girl she liked and now they were discussing date ideas? It was pretty nice. "Isn't this place great?" She found it amusing that she was the one who liked guys and Kennedy had noticed more than she had. Maybe it had been worrying about who was seeing who and not wanting to step on toes, which was gone now.

"Xander is very much the older brother and I would not want to mess with Anya. Even not as a demon, she can be very crafty. I wouldn't want to mess with Ruby either, so not looking at Sam. Dean is pretty cute. Spike is kind of like a big brother too since he helped teach us to fight and all. Jacen is cute too but sometimes I think about smacking him upside the back of the head. I'm not sure about the FBI agent that looks like Angel and we have a lawyer?" That was a new one on her. She really needed to socialize more because there were a lot of people that she didn't know in the complex. "And Gambit, well, that's a fangirl's dream right there!"

All this talking about coffee was making her thirstier. "I wonder how much coffee we could drink before we exploded. Because I want to try everything this shop has so the next time, I know what my favorites are."

“We need a theme song you know? A big ol’ theme song about Girl Power and badassness and the kicking of evil ass. We could ask the Glee kids to write one. We should do that! We should totally ask them. We can pay them in....coffee and cookies.” Kennedy liked her plan, it made perfect sense to her even if it meant she’d get less coffee which was most definitely a bad thing. But she’d get over it if she got a cool song. She deserved a cool song. All the Slayers did. They could hum it while Slaying, be that here or at home.

And Vi was right about the bill splitting. It was the way to go. “Excellent, we’ll do that. It’ll be awesome and I’ll go on my first date in ages and we’ll find you a guy. A not taken or pseudo taken guy like Xander, cause yeah Ruby’s all demony or whatever but personally I’d fear the wrath of Anya more. Maybe cause we know her. That’s probably why. And Xander's like family by now. Though I did date Willow and it was awesome till she treated me like I couldn't do anything myself.” Vi deserved someone though. She’d suffered the same as Kennedy had in terms of forgoing a personal life to run the New York Cell. If Kennedy could help see Vi as happy as she was

“So. Dean, Jacen, Gambit. Less so the Angel Alike and its possible the lawyer is evil. He did work for Evil Inc in LA.” That was quite the list and definitely one to look into. Vi deserved it and Kennedy would fix it. She had skills. Possibly skillz. She figured the Z made the whole thing. It was an important Z.

"Probably our own body weight. Eventually we’d have coffee blood and explode. Though damn vamps’d love us if we had coffee blood. We should ask Spike about that. We could use our coffee blood to draw them out couldn’t we? I’m gonna start with something cinnamon tasting this time! Work my way from there, How about you? We can have coffee and talk about boys. ...That sounded weird...” she reasoned scrunching her face up. “Boys and Needy.” There. That was better.

"Yes!" The word came out with enough enthusiasm to rival a national title winning cheerleading squad as Vi turned towards Kennedy. "They would put together the best song ever because that's what they do, isn't it? I don't mean they write them but they're good at knowing what songs rock." Coffee and cookies was the best form of payment she could think of. While money was also great, it was so common. And they'd get a theme song out of it. She'd never had a theme song before.

"It will. We all deserve some personal time since its the Apocalypse and you two are so cute together." Who knew how much longer they'd have to do things like this? Sunnydale had gone downhill in the end to the point where there had been no electricity, no people, just a lot of empty town and a crowded house. "That would be fun. I can't remember what it's like to go on a fun date. Anya's a professional at vengeance. If we ever need someone to teach us, we should get her." She probably had a few creative tips she could share with them. "But now you have Needy who is like a Slayer so she understands and will treat you like you can do things yourself," she pointed out.

"That usually means they are evil. I don't think Evil Inc takes innocent people. Wasn't there soul selling or something?" She scrunched up her nose. Why would anyone want to give away their soul. "And no offense to the FBI agent but I'd be thinking about Angel and Buffy and feeling guilty." Well, not so much the guilty part. But it would be a little awkward. "They're all very acceptable." Emphasis on very because admittedly, she had looked. A lot.

"Then what they said about us drinking so much coffee it would be running through our veins would come true." She shrugged. "I think vampires would enjoy it. Who doesn't like coffee?" It just wasn't right. "Vanilla or caramel. Maybe both at the same time." She nudged Kennedy's shoulder as they walked. "Boys and girls. Boys for me, girls for you. Not that you need other girls, but you know, generally."

That was settled then. The Glee kids would write for them a theme of gloriousness. It would be amazing, perfect, entirely entirely them. It would make everyone in the world ever see just how made of awesome Slayers were. Or they'd at least find a song to sing that was already written that described them perfectly and put their own special little Glee spin on it. Or something. Secretly she might have taken to watching Glee. A little bit.

And she was all kinds of pleased that Vi was happy with her and Needy. She seemed to like Needy, and it was likely that Vi was right. Needy would understand her, she wouldn't try to hold her back from the fight just to keep her safe, she wouldn't freak out if Kennedy wanted to continue her Slaying, or Hunting here, she supposed it was Hunting. It was awesome and she really didn't know how she'd gotten so lucky, someone amazing, someone her best friend approved of and someone that would understand her destiny. "We just need to get you a fun date now is all. If we can do that then everything would be perfect.

She shrugged at the Evil Inc stuff. "Ugh Soul Selling, yeah the LA lot seem pretty convinced of their ultimate evil and they'd know." Okay so that had settled it, no evil lawyer, and no angel-a-like FBI agent. "You leave the man to me though! Not that I know so much about acceptable men but Needy can help!"

Still all the talk and all the planning made a gal thirsty, she nudged Vi back as they walked and laughed. "Right, I'll think about the boys, for you, the things I do for you Vi!" she told her friend laughing as they walked toward the nearby coffee shop. There awaited cinnamon. Precious glorious warming cinnamon. This was officially the best day ever.

"I need a fun date!" It had been a while and finding a guy to date while being a Slayer back home had been difficult. She had a whole new respect for the superheroes and how hard they worked to keep their identities a secret, separate from their personal lives. Then again, Slaying was pretty much her entire life and her personal life was like having the secret identity. Which she actually found pretty funny. "Maybe a guy who can kick ass with me. Then we'd be sort of like you and Needy, or Zorro and his wife." Because the scene in the first movie, the sword fight between him and Elena? Very hot.

Vi rolled her eyes, almost good-naturedly, at the lawyers that weren't even there. Except maybe the one Kennedy had been talking about. "They're lawyers. That's what they do, after all. And evil could be sexy but it's just not my type of sexy. Too much smirking." And she liked them less smooth talking and more down to earth. Normal was a neutral option. "I trust you! And Needy! I'm sure that you guys will find someone I really like." Because how could they not? They were friends.

After the nudge, Vi threw her arms around Kennedy from the side and gave her a hug. "And I love you for it," she laughed as she let go. Picking up the pace, she strode the last few steps and pulled open the door, swinging an arm towards the interior. "After you!"
