Who: Hermione and Adam
What: Cute Dinner Times
When: Just after their chat
Where: Hermione's apartment
Warnings: TBA

She didn't know exactly what to feel right now. She was worried, anxious and excited at the same time. She would be lying if she said she hadn't found herself feeling rather attracted to Adam, and that wasn't even with the fact they already had been together. Several times, in fact. But she had thought that having done such a thing a number of times would prevent her feeling slightly awkward about the whole thing but it seemed she was wrong. Before, when they spent time with each other, neither of them could find fault or feel worried or unhappy about what happened. It was almost as if it was out of their hands. But this time, they were both aware that they were going to spend time with each other without being forced to be happy. And for some reason, that had her stomach churning.

She walked out of her bedroom, after changing from loose trousers and a hoody into a long striped top that stopped just above her knee, so made it easy for her to look more presentable but keep her looking respectable at the same time. For some reason, she had a feeling that she should look nicer than she had earlier but she tried to tell herself that she shouldn't think too much on it. It wasn't like they had said it was a date. Just...dinner between two people who had already been intimate.

It was a date, wasn't it?

No she had to stop thinking that. If she thought that then she would think too much on what was said or done when he arrived. So she went back to her cooker and checked on the pasta.

Adam had been thinking similar things. Sure, he was able to keep it cool on the boards and everything, but that was the internet. Online he could take the time to figure out what to say and how to react. In person there was no backspace key, and sometimes he really did wish for that backspace key.

But he couldn't stop himself from trying to figure out if this was a date or not. It had all the signs of a date, that was for sure, right down to Adam changing out of his worn out t-shirt and into one of the newer ones he'd gotten since he came back from the dead. And the whole fact that they'd already been intimate with each other. More than once. But they were talking about being friends, and if it was just a dinner with a friend it wasn't a date.

But was that all it was?

Not being sure didn't keep him from making a stop in the community kitchen. He knew some of the residents kept alcohol in the kitchen, and they have said that anything in there was up for grabs, so no one could complain when he stole a bottle of Merlot out of the fridge before heading back up to Hermione's apartment.

Crap. Wine was a date thing, wasn't it? Problem was, he didn't think of that until he was in the middle of knocking on her door.

Hermione looked up from what she was doing when she heard the knock at the door. For some reason her nerves started to pick up and she had to try and tell herself they were silly. She didn't have to be nervous. But she still found herself stopping at the mirror to check her curls before opening the door. And if anyone said her heart picked up its pace when she saw Adam at the other side, she would deny it.

"Hi," she said with a smile before opening the door further and gesturing slightly. "Come in."

This was insane. It was just friends having dinner. There was nothing to make her feel giddy behind such a meeting. But Merlin he looked nice. Biting her lip, she closed the door and glanced back up at him.

"I hope you like pasta. I thought it the safe option."

Adam smiled as Hermione pulled the door open. "Hey," he said simply, trying to push his nerves back and keep them at bay. It was rare that dates made him nervous, he was a pretty confident guy. And since there was a good chance that this wasn't even a date in the first place, so there was really no reason for him to be nervous about anything. Except, you know. This was Hermione freaking Granger.

When he stepped into her apartment he really didn't have to look around or anything, but that's what he did anyway. People tended to look around when they walk into a space, even if they already knew what they were going to find. He already knew how she kept it laid out, after all. But hey, at least this time there weren't clothes strewn about or anything.

"Pasta's great," Adam replied, simply and honestly as he looked back at her. "I mean, there isn't actually anyone that doesn't like pasta, is there?"

It was about then that he noticed she had put on a dress. He'd seen her around the complex a handful of times before the first time she'd come up to his apartment and he was pretty sure that he hadn't seen her wear a dress a single time. But here she was. In a dress. And looking great in it.

"I don't think there is, no."

She had watched as he looked around her apartment, only then realising that he hadn't been here before without, well, other things distracting them pretty quickly. She tried not to blush at the thought but it really was impossible. She was just lucky that he seemed to be taking this as a gentleman rather than anything else.

She soon saw the bottle he had but didn't want to presume anything or be too forward. Instead, she gave him another shy smile before heading back into the kitchen area. It wasn't going to take too long to finish.

"Would you like a drink?" she asked as she walked past him. She had a few things in case the bottle was for another thing. She wasn't going to embarrass herself by taking it.

That question reminded Adam that he bad brought that bottle of wine with him. His nerves had taken over to the point that he had entirely forgotten about the cold bottle of wine in his hand for a moment there. "I brought this," he said simply as he walked into the kitchen behind her, then set it on the counter where Hermione could see it. "I mean, it's cool if you don't want to get into it or anything. But, the option's here."

Yes, Adam was fully aware of how lame he sounded, but he couldn't help it. It was one of the times when he wished that talking to someone in person came with the backspace key that his computer had. If he had one, he would have started that whole offering wine thing over again and figured out some way to phrase it better.

But he didn't. Suck.

"Hey, is there anything I can help with? I'm pretty decent in the kitchen." That wasn't a lie. With his mom working nights for so much of his life he sort of had to learn how to cook. At least some things. Otherwise he would have ended up looking like someone you'd have to roll around to get him places.

"Thank you. You didn't have to bring anything," she said with a smile before looking at the bottle. She didn't know much about wine but it sounded good. "Shall we have a glass of this then?"

She was too busy focusing on the pasta that it took her a moment to realise he had asked if she needed help. Normally she would have said yes, she wouldn't mind help at least getting the plates ready, but she had invited him for dinner so she was not going to ask him to do anything. But she also didn't want him to think she didn't appreciate his offer. So she thought of something he could do.

"Well if you would like some of the wine you brought, you could pour it?"
