Jack was hard at work. It seemed that with the things he’d already gathered, he was still a few bits short of working on his looking soup. Oh well, that could wait till another time. Right then he had to work out this body that he was in. Dressed in his new uniform he was working on a few boiling pots and beakers that he managed to collect from area stores that were just dumping the old stuff that was broken out back. So he dug through, found the good bits and carried them off.
He was in the middle of getting the large pot on the stove hot enough to boil while watching the glowing reactions to the other beakers with his magnifying glasses on when he heard the knock. Looking up he set the beakers down and checked the pot again before he went to the door. “Coming!” he called giving a look around, not really caring that it looked like a mad scientist’s lab before getting the door. “Hello,” he grinned. “You must be Parker. Lovely to meet you,” he said ushering her in. “So! Where should we start? Aha!” He said grabbing her hand and going to the living room where there as an old broken chalkboard on wheels, well it used to have wheels and all the sides to keep it in, where there were scribbles and equations on it.
“First things first, I need to know that you will do exactly as I say when I say it, understand?” He asked turning around to face her. “Secondly, I need you to keep things in here,” he motioned to the apartment. “A secret. What I do here is apparently very illegal in most of the country and I’d rather not have everyone knocking on my door to tell me so and spank my nose like a bad dog.” Simple enough really. “Thirdly, I can’t pay you, but it would help us all get back home so will that be payment enough?”
