Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:hermione granger, jack skellington

Who: Jack Skellington and Hermione
What: Meeting and walking around
Where: Around town
When: Afternoon
Rating: TBA, but probably not high

Things were starting to settle down and Jack liked that a lot. That meant that he was able to map out places to go for his ingredients that he needed. Right then they weren’t for getting back home. It was a summoning image spell and with it, he might be able see back home and where things were. If they’d gone on without him or if they’d been frozen in place when he’d left. He’d already planned to take a walk around and see where things were, so when he saw the other on the web comm wanting someone to walk around with as well, he figured the more the merrier. After all right then he needed people to be around. As much as he was a hermit at times, he was still very much a people person. . . Well social as he usually wasn’t a person and didn’t keep human company.

Standing out front in a new outfit that Prue had bought him when he first got to Lawrence, he waited patiently for. . . He never did actually catch the other person’s name, just that they were a young lady. Oh well, he’d find out soon enough after all, they did live in the same apartment complex and were about to go on a stroll through the city. He had a few addresses listed on a piece of paper he’d written down after memorizing where each were from looking up the directions. Waiting patiently he rocked on his heels slightly for nothing else better to do.

Hermione may have had this happen before but she was not going to let Ron hurt her in this way for a second time. Yes she had thought she had some hope after reading those books but clearly they were wrong. And if she stayed in her room, reading instead of finding work or getting more prepared just in case another incident like the one just finished with, then she would certainly become the type of woman she did not want to be. She did not let certain circumstances upset her for longer than they should and if Ron was happy it was her duty to support her best friend. Even if she hated it.

She was glad to finally have someone new to talk to. She had spent so long with the same set of friends that to meet someone new was rather exciting, if a little daunting. She got dressed in a more simple outfit, never one for dressing too formally if she was just going to walk about, before heading out front. It was only when she saw the man waiting for her that she realised she didn't know his name.

"I...think you're waiting for me?" She said with a small smile before holding her hand out. "Hermione Granger."

Turning his head when he heard the door open, he saw a younger lady, possibly a teen, come out simply dressed. Smiling back he nodded. “Hello, Jack Skellington,” he said taking her hand and giving it a firm shake. Not hard and not to soft, you never wanted to give out a poor handshake, that would be a poor first impression. “Lovely to meet you, ready to go?” He asked as he pulled out a piece of paper with a listing of places he’d wanted to go by. A few were clothing stores, a party shop, a supposed wiccan/witch shop that he thought he might check out, then a book store.

Offering his hand for her to take, wiggling his fingers slightly like he was tempting her with chocolates. It was like he was ready to just sweep her off onto an adventure of sorts. Of course it was merely platonic and not meant to be taken that he was being sweet on her. That could lead to all sorts of frustration. No, it was a way to stick together and to make sure that it wasn’t too awkward like she was a tag along at the last minute.

That was certainly a very interesting name, but Hermione wasn't exactly going to comment on it. After all, she didn't have the most plain of names and she had heard others at school that made her think for a moment. However, it did spark a memory but she was unsure exactly what that memory was. She knew of the name yes, but how she was unsure. So she simply forgot about it.

"It's nice to meet you too. And yes, do you have anywhere specific you would like to walk to?"

He answered the question for her as he brought out a piece of paper and she had to admit, she grinned to see such organisation. It was the type of thing she would do if she had certain places she had to go. "I asked too soon, it seems."

Her eyes fell to his hand when he held it out to her, his intentions clear. Normally she would not hold hands with a stranger, really she had not held hands with many other than family or close friends. But it might be busy and she did not want become seperated from him. And it might seem rude to simply ignore him. So she lifted her hand and slid it back into his, just like she did when they were shaking hands. Nothing that could give a wrong impression.

Oh for goodness sake, Hermione, it was only a hand hold.

"Where to first?"

“I like to be able to see where I’m going most of the time. Other times I just let my feet do the leading,” he chuckled softly as they started down the street. “I have a few clothing shops that I’d like to stop by first and get an application for, so I can get a job of sorts, though I’m not sure how I’ll be able to handle that. Never had one before, well a human definition of a job anyways,” Jack said with a smile. He’d written each address and directions on how to get there as well from each shop, a smaller, meticulously drawn map in his pocket should he need to pull it out.

Jack liked to be prepared for anything really. Half the time he was sporadic, the other half very straight and narrow having everything written down and organized. Right then, he was on a specific mission in mind and he was sticking with the plan, for now. “Then there’s a party shop full of costumes and knick knacks, a self proclaimed wiccan/witch craft store that might have some supplies that I need, then a book store,” he said looking at the list again for a moment.

“Is there anywhere you’d like to stop by or had in mind? This is just something I’d like to get done, but if you have somewhere you need to be, I’d be more than happy to accompany you if you’d like,” he said. Jack always managed to make others feel more comfortable around him, accommodating them and such as well as speaking to them and not down to them. Somehow he could always find something to relate to them, well mostly anyways.

"Sometimes organisation is the best way to go when you don't know where you are."

She listened as he listed off the places he wanted to go to. Yes, if he wanted to look for jobs that would work well for her. She needed to do the same. Before she could comment he continued explaining where he wanted to go. They all suited her and she had no problem with each of those places.

"No, no they all work for me. I mean, I really should find work and I also would not mind a visit to a book store."

Hermione never said no to book stores after all.

“This is true and so far it’s helping me quite a bit actually,” he smiled with a chuckled as they carried on their way to the first store. It was just a few blocks away and didn’t take too long to get to at all. Standing in front of it Jack felt awkward.

The mannequins in the front were super thin with barely anything on. He stood there a moment with a confused look on his face. “I thought this was a clothing store,” he said as he received several strange looks from passer byers. “There’s hardly anything on these statues, nothing I would call clothing anyways,” he sighed.

“Do you want to go ahead and try though, just in case I seem to be wrong?” Jack asked as he turned to the girl next to him.

"It's nice to meet someone else who understands that organisation is very handy."

Harry and Ron weren't really that organised most of the time if she was honest, but she wasn't going to mention that. They usually relied on her when it came to organisation. When they stopped in front of a clothing store, Hermione glanced at what he seemed so confused at. He must not be from the same sort of place or time as she did. She may not think this the best way for women to be but whatever the style's seemed to be, women wanted to go along with it.

"Oh it is a clothing store. Personally I think it's horrific that society thinks women should be this thin or wear such little clothing but it is just the way things are. Women still are not treated as equally as they should."

She sighed softly before gesturing to the door.
