He was going to have to sit here and tell Dean every terrible thing that had happened over the past year. From Lilith breaking the seals, to him breaking the final seal, right on back to his stupid demon blood addiction that he was still trying to figure out and - wait, what? Sam furrowed his brow, looking across the table at Dean with an extreme air of uncertainty as Dean flat out told him not to fill him in. He didn't need to know. But he did, didn't he? Because if he didn't find out from Sam, he was going to hear it from someone else. Someone who had some kind of skewed perspective on things and would paint it all worse than it actually was. Except Sam was pretty sure that it couldn't be described worse than it actually was. Ending the world was ending the world. Sam couldn't sugar-coat that even if he wanted to.
"Are you sure?" Sam sat up a little in his seat, suddenly looking twice as attentive. "I don't want you to feel like I'm trying to hide anything from you, Dean." No, that had been the old him. Sam was done keeping secrets from Dean. He had vowed to earn his trust back; now that he magically had it again due to his brother's amnesia, Sam didn't want to do anything to screw it up.
...even if finding out what he had done might screw it up all over again.
"But," Sam continued, fingers tapping anxiously against the side of his drink. "If this is what you're comfortable with, then I'll hold off for a while. Give you more time to adjust to everything else." Maybe it'd be easier that way. Dean wouldn't be happy, not by a long shot with that Hell stuff plaguing him every second of every damned day, but at least he'd feel comfortable with Sam around for a while. And Sam wanted to be his support system through this. He couldn't do that if Dean didn't trust him anymore, could he? "So, uh..." Sam nodded to the bottle that Dean had been working at for the past half hour. "You're really gonna drink all of that?" Sam didn't really have to ask - he felt like he already knew the answer - but it was an easy way to turn the conversation in another direction.
