Who? The Winchester Clan (Dean, Sam, John, Mary) and Castiel What? Dean isn't dead, and everyone is apparently pretty thrilled about that. Also, John isn't dead, and some people are suspicious! Reunion tiem! Where? The coordinates John sent the boys. When? Backdated to just after Dean's return to the network. Rating? Not super crazy, but it's Winchesters, so... ---
Dean wasn’t entirely sure what was going on - everyone was saying he was missing some memories, and, okay, that made some kind of sense, if only because everything was so far from what he remembered it being. A whole year, though? That was... it was insane. How could he just forget an entire year? Even dying, even... even Hell, he remembered. He’d claimed he didn’t, pretended he didn’t, tried to forget, but he remembered Hell, and he didn’t remember a whole year that he’d lived, people he’d met and formed relationships with ...it was all gone, he didn’t remember, couldn’t, even when he tried. And he did, but... there was nothing there. It was like it had never happened, like he’d just woken up and everyone in the world had gone mad, like time had moved on without him...
It was kind of funny how much changed in a year, though. His brother sleeping with a demon - in a relationship with a demon, if what he was reading was correct - Dean befriending the teenage sister of some chick that apparently he’d been in a proper relationship with, Lucifer walking, the world ending...
And now he was standing around waiting for his brother to show up, waiting for Castiel to show up, standing around with Dad something that looked and acted and sounded like Dad (he hoped it was, but he couldn’t think that way yet, he couldn’t call it Dad and then kill it if he was proven wrong, he couldn’t do it), and there was an anxious churning in his stomach - which, okay, was partially hunger, because holy crap how long had it been since he’d eaten? He couldn’t remember - for all he knew, it had been a year, except he had been shot, apparently, so starvation hadn’t been what had killed him, but he definitely wanted to get this whole reunion / testing thing over and done with so he could go eat something...
And then hopefully get drunk enough that this would all make sense.
The sound of the Impala’s engine was something that didn’t change - even with the whole forgetting-a-year thing, he remembered that, recognized it, and despite everything it still brought a smile to his face when she pulled into view.
