Elle Bishop took long confident strides, a big smile on her face. It wasn’t often that her dad let her do assignments on her own. There was that standard ‘one of us, one of them’ rule that the company enforced. Elle didn’t like it. Other people were always keeping her from having fun. This trip to Ireland, though, would be fun. She was determined for it to be.

More than anything she wanted to see the look on Peter’s face when he saw her for the first time in a long while. She wasn’t one to show a lot of sentimentality, but she kind of missed having Peter around to play with. At the company’s facility she had lots of playthings at her disposal, but Peter was a little different from the others.

Elle rounded a corner, little blue sparks lighting up her fingertips, and suddenly her smile vanished completely. This was not Ireland. There was something off about the whole place. It wasn’t even a normal, American town. The place looked like it could have been normal at one point or another, but at the present time it looked like it was in the early stages of ruin.

“My dad’s gonna be so mad at me...” She grumbled, shaking her head.

Spike didn't like having to look out for people. It was a job that required responsibility, patience, and determination. Spike only had one of those three traits, which he often used exactly for the purpose of avoiding these types of situations. He had been more than determined to keep his nose clean and figure out what in the bloody hell had been going on with all the monsters running around Lawrence. Instead, Spike had ended up crashing into a group of morons who wouldn't have known how to keep themselves safe if there were an instruction manual in big print with the title 'HOW TO SURVIVE AN APOCALYPSE' dancing in front of their noses wearing his leather duster. Idiots. All of them. The only one that Spike had found endearing in the slightest was the young kid he had been looking after among their numbers and, frankly, after the boy had died under his watch Spike really wasn't feeling the whole hero thing. But he knew what Buffy would have said. It was probably the only reason Spike had yet to ditch these people. Well, that and the fact that he was charging them for his services. They were going to owe him big time when they got out of this nightmare. If anyone expected less from him, they clearly didn't know Spike very well at all.

Fortunately for Spike, he had found the opportunity to get away from the lot of them for a brief while. They needed food. Water. Basic human crap that they couldn't get out of the CD store that they'd been holed away in. Spike was quick to volunteer to go out in search of what they needed, ensuring that the rest of them stay safely tucked within their home base while he was gone. He'd ditch them for an hour or two, even if that meant that Spike had to actually risk moving through the sun to get to the tunnels. He had a blanket that he'd snagged from one of the people in his group. It was thick enough to shelter him from the suns rays until he was able to find the first available manhole and drop into the sewers below. Spike followed the familiar path (he'd been learning them for months) up to the nearest convenience store. It'd either be abandoned or filled up with demons or humans - whatever the case, Spike was definitely going inside. Whether or not he found a fight or food didn't matter. Not to him, particularly. An escape was an escape, no matter what form it came along in.

Finding his way to the surface again, Spike threw the blanket back over his head and took off at a run for the store. Bits of smoke curled away from his flesh due to the minimal amount of cover that he was able to get from the blanket, but Spike found that he was able to get to the front of the store quickly enough. With the overhead of the building stretching out from the front area and over the pavement, there was just enough shadow outside for Spike to get by while being out in daylight. So long as he didn't let the sun touch him and stuck to the shadows, he'd be fine. Tossing the blanket onto the ground, Spike tugged the collar of his jacket upward and turned to scan the area. The streets were a mess with abandoned vehicles, but for the most part? It seemed clear.

...save for the blond wandering up ahead. A scarred brow arched upward curiously, Spike immediately noting that her path would take her right past him. Arms folding across his chest, Spike casually leaned against the front doors and waited. He couldn't tell if she was possessed from here, but if she was Spike knew that he couldn't let her get far. She'd snitch on him and tell her mates that the vampire was lurking nearby. That'd put his party in danger. Spike might not have enjoyed his responsibilities, but he wasn't stupid. Live over a hundred years and you learn how the bad guys work. Especially if you were once one of the best big bads there ever was.

Elle tilted her head upward for a moment, sniffing the air. The smell of something burning was on the wind. It seemed like an appropriate enough odor for the scenery. This city looked like something pulled from a post-apocalyptic horror movie. Elle half-expected to see zombies with their arms outstretched, dragging their feet looking for human flesh. Normally she’d chuckle and think of Shaun of The Dead, but this was a more serious matter. For one, there was the question of how she flew to Ireland, walked a couple steps, and wound up here, wherever here happened to be.

With every step she heard the crunch of debris under the soles of her shoes. Everything about this place had her on edge. It was so intense, in fact, that she raised her right hand just slightly and allowed a ball of blue sparks to form in her hand. If anyone tried to ambush her they would get the shocking of their life.

Tilting her head, Elle looked around corners and down side streets, though she wasn’t entirely sure what she was looking for. She jumped just slightly when she heard movement, spinning around to make sure that no one was following her and ready to attack. It was then that she saw someone lurking.

“Hey!” Elle raised her voice so that she would be heard. “What’s going on here?” She asked, the blue ball of electricity still bright and active in her hand.

It didn't take a very long time for Spike to get himself noticed. He didn't budge from his spot at the entrance, hardly wanting to risk going any closer to the sun than he already was now. The shadows were his friend. He'd like to stay real close, thanks. "Where the hell have you been for the past week?" Spike began, blue eyes flicking down to take in the sight of electricity dancing between her fingers. Interesting. Spike had seen demons and witches alike sport that sort of power before. Never a regular human. Spike sniffed at the air, ignoring his own burnt up scent and focusing on her own. She didn't smell demon. Possibly a witch, though Spike knew some of the people here had powers even without having to call on darker forces to grab hold of them.

"Demons," Spike stated flatly. "They've gone and taken the whole city over. We've been at war for days." Spike reached into his jacket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. He popped one out, stuck it between his lips, then squinted off at the blond once more. It was sort of funny, looking at people while the sun was still out. Real bright. He could see very well in the dark, but there was something far more unique in getting to look at a person without half of them being shrouded in shadow. "Neat trick you've got there."

As far as Spike could tell, her eyes were clean. So unless she wanted to crispy fry barbecue him, she wasn't going to be a problem.

“Demons,” She repeated in a monotone. Elle scoffed, her expression showing clear disbelief. She had seen a lot of things in her short lifetime, but the only demons she’d seen had been in horror movies. “Huh.” Her eyebrows wrinkled up. She might have believed ‘biological disaster’ or ‘massive nuclear war’. Demons had never crossed her mind as a possibility.

“I guess you could say I’m new here.” She explained, prompted by the very friendly where the hell have you been?. “Although I’m a little confused on how I turned a corner in Ireland and wound up here.

“And you know,” Elle tilted her head to the side. “Smoking is a very unhealthy habit.” She reached out, lightly touching his nose with her index finger and shocked him just slightly. A mischievous smirk crossed her face. She’d missed doing that to people.

"Happens to the best of us, you'll find. I was all the way out in L.A. before I turned up here." Ireland. Ha. Angel's homeland. Funny how the first thing Spike tended to think about in regards to the country was the one person he seemed to dislike the most. "There's a magic something or another drawing us all in. You get used to it." Eventually. It was easier for Spike because magic and monsters were more than every day for him. Some of the other types that turned up here found the information a lot more difficult to handle. Fingers reaching into his pocket for his silver lighter, Spike looked up just in time to see an electrified finger swiping for his nose. The gesture sent a quick shock through his skull - kind of like that bloody chip he'd had jammed up there a few years before, which went off every time he tried to harm a human. Spike grunted in irritation, putting a hand to the side of his head out of sheer habit. That had definitely tingled. Not in a good way either.

"Shock me again and I'll tear those fingers off," Spike growled, shooting a glare in Elle's direction. The old him would have done so without warning. She should have been grateful. "Now you can test your luck and try screwing with me again or you can stop with the bloody shocks and let me help you along here." Help her along. Christ, since when had he become such a saint? He should have just walked away and left her to it.

“You’re feisty.” A wicked little grin spread across Elle’s face. “I like that.” She let her arms fall to her sides, the sparks disappearing when she decided that she didn’t need them anymore. This was one strange mess she’d found herself in, and she was pretty sure that if she didn’t find Peter Petrelli soon her dad would be all kinds of upset, but she felt that she could handle herself. Of course, she wouldn’t turn down any kind of help. She had a pretty big ego, but this was completely unfamiliar territory.

“Show me the way, fearless leader.” Elle eyed the sidewalks and streets, still utterly puzzled as to how she showed up. The blonde guy had said it was magic. While Elle had learned to be open during the years she spent working for the company, she’d found that science almost always debunked the supernatural. That was just the way things worked.

"Feisty. Right, if that's how you want to describe someone who doesn't get off on your little game of lightning tag, then sure." Spike rolled his eyes. He wasn't terribly surprised by her behavior. He had run into all sorts of people in this city, sane and insane alike. She seemed to be bordering a little more in the crazy side of things, but at least the girl had understood that Spike wasn't screwing around with her little game of shock the vampire. He would attack her the next time she tried pulling one of those on him. The sparks died away, which Spike immediately noticed. That didn't mean that they were gone completely. She could probably summon them up whenever she wanted. Raking a hand through his bleached hair, Spike gave Elle a once-over before he decided to speak again. "There are people here who can explain what's going on a fuck ton better than I can. Just stick with magical seals and Apocalypse for now and you'll be all right." Well, that and the whole don't shock Spike thing. Because that'd just get her killed off quicker than any of those demons could begin dream of pulling off themselves.

"I was getting supplies for the rest of my group. If you're willing to lend a hand, I'll take you back and keep your overly excitable ass safe until this thing is over." See, he could be nice too. Sort of. "We need food, water - whatever you think'll help keep a group of incompetent humans safe." With that, Spike turned and pushed at the doors to the convenience store. Locked. Go bloody figure. Spike turned and kicked the door open easily, shattering the locks in half. "Be careful. Could be some of those demon types running 'round in here."

“People usually come around sooner or later.” Elle smiled sweetly, though there was nothing sweet about her. She’d gotten used to having her way over the years. While she’d been locked up in a company facility and treated like a lab animal she’d also been spoiled and allowed as many toys as she wanted. These toys, of course, were actually people. It had blurred the lines of what was and wasn’t allowed when it came to other individuals.

“Eh,” She shrugged at the mention of helping him get supplies. “Might as well.” Elle had a feeling that, should she help the other people in town, they would be more willing to help her. She wasn’t usually so easily manipulated into doing actual grunt work for other people with no immediate reward.

“What do demons look like?” Elle kept her eyes peeled, looking around as she spoke to Spike.

It seemed that they had something in common. Spike wasn't all too keen on doing the grunt work either - the only real reason he was pulling it off was because the party he was looking out for was going to pay him a handsome reward when all of this was over. He had managed to swindle them into paying him for keeping their asses alive. Hey, if he was going to die in this apocalyptic bullshit? He was gonna go out with a pocketful of cold, hard cash. There was that and, you know, the fact that his soul wouldn't allow him to leave a bunch of innocent people caught up in this without him feeling all guilty. Stupid soul. Stupid Buffy. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

"They've got black eyes when you lure them out," Spike explained, walking over to a nearby shelf to check it for snacks. Not for him. Nope, Spike needed blood. He'd have to find some kind of meat shop real soon. "Black to the pupil, not 'cause they've been slugged in the face too many times type of black." Spike preferred that version, honestly. He lit his cigarette up, ignoring the no smoking sign posted right above his head on the wall. "When you don't have them all lured out, they look just like me and you." Spike peered off at her. "You know, christo and alla that." He felt like an idiot saying it, but it was supposed to work on demons. Make them get all flinchy. When she didn't flinch, Spike shrugged and continued to go about his business. Not a demon. That was good to know, seeing as he didn't have any holy water on him. Vampire. It stung like a bitch.
