==========================
John Jones had been noticing how exceedingly difficult it was to leave Lawrence, Kansas. It did not matter how fast he was. Nor if he had tried to be invisible while doing it. Nothing worked. He could get to the border on all sides, as he had done, but it was useless. He had also come to discover that it worked above as well. It would seem that he couldn't very well get too far from Earth's atmosphere. Though it wasn't like he needed to leave the city anyway. His job was here after all. And most threats happened here. But this Martian, this man was the sort who liked to explore other places for leads as well, and he couldn't very well undertake something like that now. Plus there were lots of demons around. Nearly everywhere.. even though he had read Castiel's earlier post about how it wasn't true. It did not make him any more comfortable. He chose to believe it, of course.. but it was sort of difficult when he looked into the station to report in and seeing all those dark eyes. And so for several days? He had opted for remaining invisible while working a few hours at the desk and making sure to stay out of everyone's way. He had remained cloaked for some time until he decided to make his way out to the streets again.
It was now night and his police shift had ended. But he still had another job to do. He was still part of a team and had to continue doing field work. There had to be a solution to this. He was starting to think Castiel had a point. For a night before, he had encountered a few of what seemed to be the same demons he had encountered before while here. Except.. the exorcism didn't take. Which he found very odd, as he knew Latin, along with nearly any other language spoken on Earth (and other worlds but he never needed to use those dialects as yet). By all accounts, it should have worked. They also didn't use their powers on him but chose guns instead, while calling him a black-eyed.. well. Not something he would repeat to others. It was apparent that they saw his eyes as completely dark instead of the occasional red that would appear at times during a fight or using one of the active powers. Not to mention the fact that he was unable to get back to the apartment complex. That would usually be a clue for demon possession, but he knew that he wasn't one. After another hour of exploring from above, John descended down into an alleyway and came out of his cloaking phase, now fully visible as he walked out into the public sidewalk. His comm-link was on at the moment in case another team member ran into trouble and needed help. As he turned another corner, keeping his mind open for any negative thoughts in the area, he was curious if anyone else on the team was in the area...
