There was a look in her eyes that Sam was all too familiar with. Caution. Uncertainty. Sunshine didn't trust him - not that Sam could blame her, seeing as he wasn't entirely certain if he was supposed to be trusting her either. Yet for the first time since all of this insanity had started, Sam was trying to react in a way that didn't involve him chasing off the person that he believed to be possessed. If they could reach some sort of agreement - even a silent one - not to attack or run each other off, maybe they could try and figure this mess out together. It was highly unlikely that the others would take to her well with the black eyes in action, but Sam would convince them to calm down as best as he could. Sunshine, after all, wouldn't have been the only party in their camp to have black eyes on her. Ruby was an official demon. If they could work with her (albeit reluctantly on some of their parts), they could deal with the fact that Sunshine was one of the not-demons that they were currently waging wars with. Castiel's warnings had not been forgotten. And with Ruby there, she could look into Sunshine's eyes and determine as to whether or not she was an actual demon. What with demons being able to see each others true faces, Ruby could pick up on the truth easily. Seeming somewhat reassured by that bit of knowledge, Sam pulled out his first-aid kit and popped it open. It wasn't as stocked as it had been when this week had started. Sam was pretty sure he hadn't really ever gone through a first-aid kit so quickly before. Yet with so many people getting hurt lately...
"Look, I know it's not easy. Trusting me, that is. Honestly, it's not easy for me to trust you either right now. Demons aren't exactly my favorite brand of creature in the world." Save for Ruby. She'd be the only exception there ever was, he was sure. Sam looked down at the kit in his hands, brow furrowing thoughtfully. "But think about it - is this the first time someone's ever said you had demon eyes before? People are pulling this kinda crap all over the city. You know you're not a demon. I know I'm not a demon. It's not just us either. It's the same story over and over again, isn't it? Who's to say that there isn't something more than a city full of possessed people going on here? I think someone is trying to screw with us. Something a lot stronger than the average demon here." Sam took a careful step forward. It didn't help that there was blood seeping through the cloth on her arm. She didn't need stitches? Really? "I know you literally have zero reason to believe me. You don't know me. At all. Hell, you don't know anyone here, do you?" Sam bit down on his lip, doing all he could to concentrate on getting his point across. The blood was distracting. Almost painfully so. "But this...all of this? I think it's something that we need to go ahead and take a risk on. Otherwise we're all going to end up killing each other. Look around you, Sunshine. This city has gone to hell. All because of wild accusations and...and...I don't know." Sam raised a hand up and rubbed at the back of his neck. "Just feels like something isn't right here. I don't need failed exorcisms to tell me that either. Demons don't generally keep the act up once they've been outed. They get all over-confident and inevitably make with the murdering. Maybe you don't know a thing about the demons here, but you did say something about demons at home, right?" Sam could remember talking to her before. They had discussed the supernatural. She knew demons. Maybe not the kind from here, but she knew demons. Sam got the feeling that outside of weaknesses and strengths, they must have had something in common. "In fact, you know bad guys in general, right? They don't keep lying. I mean, they do, but...they don't keep lying about who they really are. Not when the jig is up and they can do whatever they want to their victims easy. What point would there be?"
