============================
Damien had really never expected something of this magnitude. Not this many demons walking around in public as he had seen the previous day and night. They were all over! Everywhere he looked. Black eyes all over. Maybe a couple were normal, but he hadn't noticed. All he saw was the darkness of the eyes, black as midnight. The Apocalypse was officially here. Of course he'd already known it was, along with everyone else who'd seen the announcement from Sam a while back. But this.. damn. This was more demons than he had ever seen, and Damien had seen his share. He'd seen the handful they dealt with when the apartments first opened. He had been kidnapped by a small group of them on behalf of Alastair. And there were the numbers of them recently outside the apartments, one which had temporarily killed Prue (although it sure didn't feel temporary at the time, he'd nearly lost it then). But this! He was glad to have found sanctuary with Jacen, Sunshine, and anyone else who would have joined them. But he wanted to make sure they were stocked up on supplies. Seemed to have enough for a few days. But what if this thing kept on as it was, for longer? A month, maybe two? Three? Six? He needed to make sure they were all stocked up. He knew he wouldn't be the only one doing that, but Damien was one that liked being prepared, sometimes he tended to do things himself.
He had left his boss, whom he knew damn well had a demon in him, a note before the previous night's shift saying that he needed some time off due to family issues at home that needed to be worked through. But the real reason was that Damien wanted to avoid the man as well as any possessed customers that would have come there to buy stuff.. and to spy! Yeah, he wasn't fooled. He had left the safehouse around midnight and made his way over to the familiar workplace, occasionally looking over his shoulder on the way there. Seemed there were less demons around. He still nearly jumped whenever he saw someone else walking on the sidewalk or passing by in a car, ducking his head to avoid looking directly at them. He looked at his watch again as he now approached the doors. 12:41. The lights were out inside. Taking a deep breath, he pulled the key from his pocket and open the door. "No, wait.. cameras.." He stared hard for a moment, focusing, until he was sure the machines in the back room had shut off. Then he opened the door and stepped inside, leaving it open just a crack.
Damien had been walking around for at least fifteen minutes, after having used his ability to only turn on a couple of the indoor lights he needed. Most people would need more on. But due to his jackal side, it was often easy for Damien's eyes to adjust to the dark. There was quite a bit of materials he had gotten. More salt, for one. Along with a few colored markers.. red ones. About seven to eight bottles of water, which could be blessed holy when he got back. That was mostly the demon-proof necessities. Now he was checking aisles for food, maybe snacks. Such as.. soda, juice, Ho-ho's, donuts, zingers, moonpies, candy bars, bread, peanut butter and jelly jars, mayo, mustard, and a couple cans of nuts thrown in for good measure. "Oh! Can't forget these," he mumbled, grabbing a couple bags of trail mix, gummi worms, banana chips, raisins, and cashews. He glanced at the clock on the wall and noted that it was going on one in the morning now. Maybe he should get back. It had briefly occurred to him that this may constitute as stealing. Not that he would get caught, of course. Cameras weren't on. And he had no fingerprints, having been born without them. Plus this was a demon-infested city, so.. well. He thought momentarily that he should find a way to pay for it anyway, lest some folks glare or pass judgment if by some tiny miracle that someone found out about this. Maybe some would understand. Desperate times for desperate measures or something like that. But he chose right here and now that it was best to cover all the bases, so to speak. To play it safe just in case.
So, once he had all the supplies put into his backpack, which would be a bit heavy for him since he had to walk back to the place he'd been living at now.. he'd probably need to get some good rest after that.. he walked back up toward the front counter. The cash drawer was not in the register since the job required it to be counted and stashed in the back after hours. However.. he did have an idea. He pulled out some bills, counting up to about $47 in cash. What he owed, plus some extra. He slipped it under the register but only let just a little edge of the green paper stick out. That way, when inventory was taken the next day and before the boss would be alarmed, the discovered 'payment' would cover whatever was allegedly missing. And since he had no prints, it was basically like he was never here. With a sigh, he made a gesture with his hand, causing the remaining lights flickered off and he turned to the door. It was then that he heard the footsteps of another person nearing outside, approaching the door. He hoped it wasn't another of those demons staring at him with those deep dark eyes.. but once he would see who it was, it would be quite a shock for him indeed.
