WHO: Sam Winchester and OPEN (more than one character welcomed). WHAT: Getting supplies in a demon infested city. This should go well. WHEN: Afternoon. WHERE: Lawrence, Kansas. Downtown. A convenience store. RATING: Violence. Possibly language.
Backpack stocked with what little supplies he still had slung over a shoulder, Sam quickly weaved his way through the chaotic array of stranded and wrecked vehicles alike, his large figure moving lowly to keep himself hidden. Gunshots cracked through the air, the distant sound of feet scuffling against pavement difficult to ignore. The city was at war. Demons were attacking everywhere, innocent people were being killed, and there truly was only but so much that one such as Sam Winchester could accomplish on their own. He wasn't alone - not entirely, anyway, what with Ruby, Dean, and a few others still walking on his side - but they were certainly more than outnumbered here. Now that the demons had gone and taken over those that they were used to working with, their numbers were down and all odds seemed very much against Team Good Guy. That didn't mean that they were ready to up and quit just yet. Even with Lucifer's conversation with everyone on the boards still freshly bouncing around in Sam's mind, he found that it was difficult to ignore the crisis at hand. He had to keep fighting. They needed to win this. Sam's mother was possessed. Jo was possessed. So many others were as well. And while Sam didn't fully expect to make it through this apocalypse alive, he sure as hell was going to do whatever it took to ensure that his family and friends were as safe as they could be for as long as he still had the strength to fight.
Shotgun reared in front of himself, Sam scattered to the right of the street and ducked behind an abandoned truck. He was only out on his own because they needed more supplies. Rock salt, water, food. There was a convenience store just down the road from here and if Sam could get to it...
He peered around the side of the truck and squinted ahead. So far, so good. For the most part, Sam was hoping to steer clear of most of the demons. Being around Ruby in itself was difficult enough. But fighting them? Watching their blood spill before his very eyes? Sam didn't know if he could take it. He'd want to drink. He already wanted to drink. Even with Epiphany's potion slowly helping him through his addiction, Sam could only take but so much exposure at a time. I can do this, Sam thought to himself, I can deal with this. I'm stronger than the blood. Determined to continue resisting his addiction and to follow through on the task at hand, Sam moved out from behind the truck and quickly made his way out to the convenience store. The street, for now, was still clear. It was looking like the store was abandoned too. The door was thrown across the street, there was a bloody puddle a few feet away on the sidewalk, and it looked like the place had been the territory of some sort of struggle. But, for now, it was quiet. Sam carefully slipped inside and made his way over to the shelves, propping his shotgun up against the side of one as he began to search for some rock salt to take back to his team.
