He'd been out of the complex since the early morning, checking the boards at random of course during his day for important updates. But otherwise he was virtually on his own. Checking out the city in a little more detail when things took a turn for the worst. He'd had trouble off and on adjusting to the past, but he spent the day in the city and found things he liked. The park for instance. A group of young adults were playing frisbee. He was invited to play, and so for a few hours he learned what it was like to be a normal guy with normal friends who didn't know what was really out there. They didn't know about the demons, or the impending doom waiting to break lose. Jack had fun for the first time in several years. He was really bad at frisbee, but what mattered was the fun and memories and new friends. They'd all played until dark. That was when they couldn't see it anymore anyway and they found a park table to sit at. Everything was normal, it was like that movie he'd watched with Bridge once. Pleasantville.
Until they sat down, and that waas when things started to get weird. Jack listened to them talk, but there was something off. Their eyes had no color, they were pitch black. He tried not to say anything or do anything to draw attention to himself. "Gotta check my messages. " He stated offhandedly and his new friends shrugged. It was a regular thing to do. Jack scrolled through forum posts while the small group chattered, and his face lost a little color at Sam's post. demons in the city. Screw the city! Demons were sitting next to him. They had black eyes. The strange thing was, they weren't attacking. He gave the little group a glance and stood. "Curfew. " He offered a strained grin and waved, backing quickly away from the confused looking group. They didn't move to attack or follow, they just weren't interested. Jack didn't question it, he accepted his damn good luck and headed into the city. They were everywhere. But he couldn't just stay out in the open as a sitting duck could he? No way he'd be safe like that.
He thumbed in his pants pocket for a vail of holywater and let out a breath he'd unconsciously held in fear that he might have forgotten it. There were too many demons to just stroll down main street. Jack took Sam's advice and waited for a gap in the busy street full of demons. He ghosted into a store front brick wall and waited. He felt stupid hiding, but there were to many to take on by himself. There was no way he would have even stood a ghost of a chance.
