As soon as Ruby approached their table, Sam awkwardly tensed. What was he supposed to do? Hug her? Kiss her? Could he even do that without freaking out? Sam cleared his throat nervously and turned his gaze to look out at Eliot and Jo as they too moved in his direction. They wouldn't let him get away with pulling a stunt like tackling Ruby across the restaurant in a desperate attempt for her blood, now would they? He, at least, had that much of a reassurance to go by. Sam didn't know Eliot all that well, but he looked like a guy who could handle himself. And Sam knew that Jo could put someone down if need be. Plus, something told Sam that Ruby wouldn't take to being attacked by him in the middle of a restaurant so well either. Pushing a hand through his hair (kind of a nervous habit of his), Sam shoved his hands into his pockets and offered Ruby a tentative smile. "Of course I remembered," Sam told her gently. "How could I forget?"
Can we sit down before this gets embarrassing? Sam immediately nodded. Sitting was a good plan. He couldn't attack her through the table. Shoving back thoughts of demon blood from his mind, Sam carefully stepped forward and put his hand along the small of Ruby's back. "You look beautiful," he told her, his touch as light and careful as possible. With his free hand, Sam pulled Ruby's chair out for her. Sam might not have been much for fancy restaurants, but he still knew how to be a gentleman.
As Ruby settled in her chair, Sam turned to look back at Eliot and Jo again. "Hey, guys. Your table is the one right there," Sam said, pointing to one that wasn't too close, but wasn't too far from where Sam and Ruby were seated either. "Thank you again for doing this," he said, somewhat sheepishly. "And Jo -" Sam grinned. "You look nice." The dress was very fitting. It was kind of a shock seeing someone he was so used to sporting a bar towel in one hand and a shotgun in the other dressed up like that, but Sam thought it was a good look for her. Eliot was very lucky to be her date tonight.
