The building was much larger than anything that Sam was used to calling home. With several stories high, wide floors with plenty of rooms on each to keep it's residents happy, and a ton of work that needed to be done, Sam really did feel that he was a bit in over his head on this one. Never had he taken the time to set up security or anything similar to permanent settling for a home. He supposed that he couldn't truly call it his, but as it was a place that he was hoping everyone else would choose to occupy for safety reasons then perhaps it would, at the very least, become a more familiar location to him. One place in that dangerous world that he could visit and call safe, if only for a little while. While the building was fairly expensive, Sam knew that they would be able to take care of all financial difficulties between the various groups that had agreed to help and the skills that came along with them. He had already put a payment down on the building - enough to satisfy the owner to the point where he was allowed to start doing things to it - and now, after talking to Gwen, they were working at getting more to stabilize the financial end for good.
Meanwhile, with those ends being tied up, they had other things to focus on. The apartment building wasn't in the best condition. There were a lot of repairs that needed to be done in addition to the security measures Sam knew that they would eventually have to take. That was a big part on why he had invited everyone out here tonight. Between all of them, the process of them figuring out what to do with the place seemed a lot easier than it would if it were just Dean and Sam going at it alone. Help was good. The Winchesters certainly weren't used to it from many people outside of the few that they did let into their lives, but Sam felt that he was slowly coming around to trusting other people with things that he would have been a lot more anxious about before.
It was progress. He was progressing. Definitely a good thing.
"All right, guys," Sam said, looking out at those who had chosen to come by and help out. "There's a lot of space here and a lot that obviously needs to be done. I'm gonna let you guys explore for a bit, see what's what and what you think you can add to the place, and then we can all meet back down here and discuss things in about twenty minutes." He looked across the lobby, mind already making a list of it's own. "If you need help with anything, don't hesitate to grab me. I'll probably be sticking to the ground floor for now."
As the groups scattered, Sam shot his brother a hesitant look - he was wary about talking with him much after their last argument - before he turned and began exploring the halls.
