Never played. She certainly had that look about her. At her agreement to sit down and learn the game, Ron felt a surge of pride pour through him. There was nothing better than teaching someone how to play one of the best games in the world. Second to Quidditch only, of course. He couldn't really teach that to much of anyone here on account of most of these lot being Muggles. Also, it didn't help that he didn't have any of the proper equipment to work with either. Ron tried not to look terribly disappointed at the thought. That was one of the things he missed the most about being home. Still, he was getting the chance to teach a stranger how to play chess. It'd probably be best for his sanity if he chose to focus on the good rather than all that bad at the moment. "You're in luck, then," Ron declared. He straightened up in his chair and flashed her a grin. "You're about to learn from the very best. No one'll teach you better than me."
Ron reached forward and began dragging the pieces back into their starting positions. "Sorcerer? That's wicked high rank. Bloke must be really good at magic or ancient." Ron peered across the table at her curiously. "Do I know him? I can't exactly think of many magic types that are around here anymore. Used to be quite a few, but..." Ron straightened out his row of pawns. "Reckon it was their time to go and all." He ran a hand through his hair, then extended it in Gwen's direction. "Ron Weasley. Good to meet you." It sort of was good to meet someone new. He met all sorts of people at his job, but this was different. He wasn't serving Gwen food and she was hardly some stranger that he was never going to see again. They lived in the complex and they were both trapped in the same messy situation as the other. It seemed far more likely that he and Gwen could relate a bit more than those perfect strangers that Ron had to serve at work.
