Who: Virgil Hawkins[narrative]
What: fun dream times.
When: Friday evening
Where: Med Bay -complex
Warnings: TBA. Probably none
When he was brought to the medical bay by whatever force or person had carried him, Virgil Hawkins arrived unconscious. He was in terrible shape thanks to Jania's light saber. His skin was badly burned and cauterized, he'd lost a dose of electricity to the point where he'd dabbled on the edge of a coma into a lucid dream. He was alive and breathing thanks to Andrea's rescue but that was all. It was really the strangest thing, he knew he was dreaming but he didn't know how to wake up. It played out somewhat like the movies. Vanilla Sky and Waking Life, and whatever the other one was. He was really too exhausted to pinpoint media pop culture. Only his dream scape wasn't covered in dramatic snow, or stuck in one still scene it played out like there was something he was missing. Puzzle pieces he was supposed to fit together somehow to remember how to wake up.
There was a time when Virgil could remember receiving phone calls from his best friend multiple times a day (Sharon, his older sister, had tallied the maximum at 17). They saw each other walking to junior high and high school. They saw each other during and in between classes, and after school. They'd first bonded avoiding the bullies. Hours upon hours were spent competing in video games, discussing comic books, and watching cheesy horror movies whilst scarfing down junk food.
Then the "Big Bang" happened. Not the forming of the universe rather, the leak of experimental gas that was set off during a gang rumble at the docks. A mash-up that Virgil had foolishly been there for… Virgil sometimes wondered how he would have turned out if Richie hadn't been there to lean on. Would he have really fallen in with the gangs? Would Virgil have kept piling up debts to one tough guy in order to protect himself from the other tough guys, pushing him to do things he really didn't want to and shouldn't do? Would he become the very thing that his parents fought so hard to keep out of the community? Virgil had called Richie almost immediately for advice…
And that was when it all changed. Everything as they knew it. He dreamed about the day he asked asked Richie to meet him at a junkyard, eager to show off his newly gained electrical superpowers. From that point forward after school activities included designing a costume 'Static', strategizing on how to deal with petty thieves, evil corporations, gangs, saving helpless citizens, and occasionally scuffling with counseling a fellow student steered down the wrong path (sometimes super-powered, sometimes not).
But not everything was good in the life of super hero Static Shock. Richie became more and more like a drill sergeant and they began to drift apart. Familiarity bread contempt and Richie backed off. It wasn't long after that did Virgil realize he was isolating himself. Richie came back of course stronger than ever but Virgil wavered. Virgil wasn't the same bubbly teenager he'd once been. When he was vulnerable the Darkside Club made it's debut in Dakota, and life as he knew it fell apart. Crumbled around him thanks to hours of torture, mind control, and violence. Since then Virgil Hawkins had been lost to the world. Even beneath the mask of comedy there was always tragedy. Virgil had forgotten who he was, he didn't feel like himself since the drugs wore off and even now he was still trying to pick up the pieces.
Virgil was lost without Richie. Richie was the key.
