WHO: Stephanie Brown and some demons. WHAT: Possession! WHEN: BACKDATED! Early afternoon on February 18th. WHERE: A few places. But the deed happens in an alley. STATUS: Narrative/Complete.
It had been a good morning for Stephanie so far. She hadn't really done much of anything yet--and why should she? It was her birthday, the one day of the year that she could be as lazy as she wanted to be. Including not going to work. In fact, she had warned her boss repeatedly that there was no possible way he could get her to come in that day.
But around eleven in the morning she finally dragged herself out of bed and got ready to go out. It was time for her to go pick up the birthday gift she promised for herself. Stephanie had been saving up to get herself a motorcycle. A Ninja 650R, to be exact. Specially ordered just so she could get it in purple. And just then it was sitting at the store, waiting for her to pick it up.
Not that she was turning her back on her Rocochet or anything, but she needed to have something a bit less conspicuous for when she wasn't in costume.
It didn't take her long to get ready, and she was at the store by noon. And within another half an hour she had picked up her new bike as well as a new jacket and helmet. It was a big splurge for a girl that worked at a comic shop, but in her mind it was worth it. Stephanie was looking forward to showing it to her friends back at the complex, but as she made her way down the road something caught her eye.
First there was a shriek just loud enough to be heard over the engine of the bike and through her full-head helmet. When she looked over she spotted a woman being pulled into an alley. In the middle of the day. Morons.
"No such thing as a day off," Stephanie muttered to herself as she pulled over, climbed off her bike, and took off her helmet before rushing into the alley the woman had been pulled into. When she got in there she quickly rushed at the man that had the woman pushed against the wall. Stephanie had only just pulled him off her and yelled, "Run!" when she heard more people coming into the alley behind her.
Instead of running the woman turned and gave her a wicked smirk, her eyes going pure black as she did so. The man in her arms started to chuckle and muttered a simple, "Gotcha." They were demons. It was a trap, pure and simple. As the realization hit her, Stephanie felt nails scraping against the back of her neck. Before she could even react she felt the chain that held her protective amulet in place snap.
It all happened fast, even for Batgirl. As soon as the chain was broken there was a cloud of black smoke coming at her. She shoved the man away from her as hard as she could before turning to run. But Stephanie hadn't even made it out of the alley when the demon managed to catch her. Without thinking she let out a scream, but it was cut off suddenly once the demon was in control.
The blond that strode casually out of the alley wasn't Stephanie. Stephanie was locked inside somewhere, struggling helplessly to get out.
