Who: Vi and Jacen
Where: The address he gave her
When: After the comm post
What: Something's not quite right
Rating: TBD
Status: Incomplete

It didn't take a prophetic dream to tell her something was off. There was an uneasy feeling in the bottom of her stomach as she shut the lid on the laptop and rose from her seat. Jacen asking for help, Jaina's implications. Yeah, something was definitely wrong and if she could help set it right, she'd help him out. Nevermind the suddenly complicated...nevermind. She pulled her hair back into a ponytail, pulled on her sneakers and coat, and started loading up with weapons. Two knives, a bottle of holy water, her cell phone. She ran over their positions in her mind, fingers brushing to make sure she knew where they were if it came down to a fight.

With a Jedi. She was halfway across the parking lot before she thought about checking Wikipedia, but wasn't sure if there had been any time. The less lightning flying around downtown Lawrence, the better. And she'd been training with Jacen. Hopefully confrontation just wasn't going to be necessary.

As Vi approached the address that he'd given her, the uneasy feeling in her stomach was only getting worse. She slipped one of the knives from its hiding place and into her coat sleeve, feeling a little more comfortable with it right at hand. Moving into the park, she glanced around, looking for Jacen.

It took some work to keep the scowl from appearing on her face but she couldn't help the faint cold look that made it into her eyes. It didn't matter whether it was friendship or a crush or whatever, hearing something like that was a kick in the gut. The substitute person, only there to fill the void until that person made their reappearance. If, in this case, the seal decided that Tenel Ka would be a nice addition to its collection. "No, she isn't," she answered, feeling her response was remarkably calm for the sudden frustration she felt.

She stood in her spot for a moment longer, tensing as his hand brushed against hers. Her gaze went towards the sky for a moment, jaw clenched, before she spun and caught up, keeping some distance between them. Her hands didn't move from her pockets, the bottle resting lightly in her palm. She faced ahead but glanced at him sideways from time to time, listening, studying. "Absolutely ridiculous," she replied, resisting the urge to smack him up the back of the head. "Sure."

Vi dropped a step behind as they approached a group of warehouses, one building in particular. She drew her hand away from her pocket, the bottle resting in her palm. "What's the plan?" she asked, thumb slowly pressing against the cork stopper to loosen it from the bottle's mouth. Before they went anywhere, she felt better if he got the holy water shower. If there was no reaction, then they'd go find Jaina and then she could go back to the complex, steal someone's ice cream, and watch some violent movies. Really violent.

It was then the demon decided never to let Jacen claw back even for a minute, the rage he felt from the owner of the body almost overwhelmed him and he realised that had been the last straw for the Sith Lord. All Jacen was thinking about was killing him. And about how he could possibly make it up to Vi. The fact that she wasn't Tenel Ka didn't matter like the demon had said. She was different, very different, and in some ways he liked that about her, and it was confusing in his head. The demon shut the thoughts down completely for a while, it was easier that way.

So he just relished in the obvious annoyance in the redheads voice, she might not have thought it too ridiculous that he might have liked her, and maybe Jacen...well who knew with Jacen. He wasn't saying anything at all at the moment. "It's good to have a friend like you" he told her, too amused by his own underhanded torment of the Slayer to pay attention to the fact she'd stepped behind him as he pushed open the door, She could run if she liked, Slayer or not, with the speed and dexterity of the Sith Lord he'd possessed he'd find her. And then they'd have all sorts of fun with Jacen's memories and strange confused feelings toward the woman. Vi would have to be unconcious for a while first of course, made the set up process easier if they were. He wondered what it took to render a Slayer unconcious.

"The plan...well I suppose I try to talk to her don't I. Explain why I killed Mara properly, explain my reasons. I think you might have to stop her leaving. Do you think you can do that Vi?" he asked. He really did like that memory of Mara. Another redhead Jacen had loved though not in the same way at all. His Aunt. His sacrifice. Mara had died for that love. Because thats how Sith had to be. And of course because she'd gotten to close to him.

"Are you ever scared of me Vi?" he asked, the demon more curious than anything, as well as keeping her talking. "Do you ever think I might do those sorts of things again?"

"That's me. The best friend a guy could ever have." Her words carried an edge of sarcasm that she kicked herself for after. It wasn't the time for any of this. There was potential danger lurking behind that door - or maybe even right in front of her - and she needed to be clearheaded or something was going to get the better of her. She'd been trained better than that. She trained new Slayers better than that.

Her nail dug into the cork a little harder, giving it just the nudge it needed to come loose from the bottle. "Can't go wrong when talking is the plan. I'll find a place to watch the doorways while you find out where she inside," she said. "Honesty is the best policy."

The question caught her off guard. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she almost told him that was another conversation for another time when she realized it could work to her advantage. "No," she replied, chin lifting slightly. "I know what you have the power to do, could do again, but I'm not scared of you. Anyone has the ability to create chaos, to do bad things. Anyone can relapse. I don't completely dismiss the idea but I don't let it rule my opinion of a person either." As she spoke, she shifted the bottle. "Jacen, do you really think now is the time to be having a philosophical disc-"

She stopped suddenly, swinging her arm upward and releasing the holy water from the bottle.

Oh now that was hurt. Thrilling, the whole feeling of it and the demon was fascinated. He wanted to push at it, prod at the emotional wound he'd caused and see where it led. See how far he could push her before her liking of Jacen turned to hate. Turned dark. He liked to turn things dark. Thats why he and Jacen were such a good fit. Or Caedus. He'd been silly taking his name back. He'd been weak and the demon didn't understand why he'd done it. Maybe to make people like Vi less afraid of him, because he was weak after all. He was weak and Vi wasn't scared. She should be. Everyone should be.

"Good, You watch the doorways. And it's not a philosoph-"

It burned. It stung, and burned and tore and the demon turned furious and angry and hating the burn as it sizzled right down to the bone. It wouldn't heal right away either. Jacen's ability to self heal didn't stretch to this because of course Jacen wasn't hurt. Just the demon. And now Vi knew. How irritating. "That. Was unwise" he said, dropping all pretense of worry or looking for Jaina. Jaina was perfectly safe with his sister after all. "You followed your little crush all the way out here and there is no one around Vi. No one but me and you, and you're gonna help us be the biggest loudest distraction this stinking little world has ever seen."

He reached out to grab her, Putting all his power into Jacen's powers, they didn't all work of course, just the easily accsessed ones but it was enough. It was more than enough. "You know you can't fight him don't you. You know just how powerful out little 'chaos causer' is." Of course she knew, and she would play nicely if she knew what was good for her. Very very nicely. That way she got to be a living distraction. Oh the things he and his sister could do. Not to mention the stories of Jacen and Tenel Ka swimming around his mind, almost designed to hurt. "You're not going to attack him either are you. Not your 'friend'. Took his pretty little Queen months to turn her ships on him. What's it going to take you?" More comparisons to Tenel Ka. Always more. It seemed to be the button to push.

She wasn't sure what she expected. She knew Jacen was one of those guys who had a way with words, who could read people, get under their skin, and called a spade a spade. This conversation had been blunter than usual and she'd wondered if it was the stress over what was happening with his sister. Then there was the feeling and she'd assumed that she was going to be wrong. Better safe than sorry. But the telltale reaction to the holy water...

The bottle slipped from her fingers, making a soft clinking sound as it hit the pavement by her feet. "No, you even stepping foot in this town was unwise," she replied, shoulders rolling as if shaking off the shock that had taken hold temporarily. There was a time and a place, and now it was time to get in touch with her inner Slayer. "I am not going to help you do anything. What I am going to do is send you back to that sinking hellpit you call home and then have a good laugh at your expense."

So she had Jacen, who on a good day possessed several powers that it would be tricky to tangle with. Now she had a demon possessing Jacen with those powers in addition to the demonic ones. She was also alone which was going to make Devil's Traps and exorcisms very tricky, if not outright impossible. "I can fight him. I'll have to buy him a couple boxes of Icy Hot patches afterward, but I can fight him," she said firmly, dodging back to avoid his reach.

She leaned as if to break into a run back the way they'd come but the last taunt stopped her. Vi spun to face him, planted her foot, and swung her left up in a sideways kick at his chest.

She was going to send him back. In this body. Oh that was adoreable. The demon loved this body and he wasn't giving it up any time soon. Not because some little Slayer told him he was. He'd heard from Meg about the Slayers. They were good, very good. But he was pretty damn sure he was better. And he was not going back to the pit if he could help it. Not ever. This was so much better and they were doing their part in the raising of Lucifer. They were doing what they had been asked to do, though he had to admit, taking the Slayer out of the fight was more for his own fun than anything else. His sister would be impressed when she was done playing with her own toys, she knew that too.

"You're not going to be laughing. You're still thinking about if its true or not. If you're some kind of poor replacement for her like Jaina thinks. You're wondering was that me, or was that Jacen. You can't fight him. You won't" The demon had to admit to suprise of course when she did. The kick connected, and it hurt but this body didn't react to pain like most others did. Oh it felt it. The pain spread across his chest but there was no visible reaction. Jacen used pain differently. The Embrace of Pain had taught him how. The Vong's most deadly training tool. Not everyone surrvived. But Jacen had. "That just wasn't nice" he told her and moved in to grab her at the shoulders. If he could do that then he had her. With Jacen's strength.

"You do realise you're not going anywhere right?" he asked her. It was true. She was staying here, or somewhere nearby anyway until things got better. Until Lucifer rose. In the meantime she could prove to be entertaining. He could figure out just what her interest in his meatsuit was. It would be funny. "Don't make me hurt you, I've been itching to play with the lightning powers but he's got a whole load of them just lined up inside here." he told her, "You could just surrender now, save yourself the hurt"

Well that was about as effective as kicking a brick wall and yet the more he kept digging with that emotional warfare, the more she wanted to kick him again. Instead, she muttered something none too complimentary and almost obscene under her breath. "You were a psychiatrist before you became a demon, weren't you?" she snapped. "Credibility is working against you. I'm not in the mood for mind games." Demons were skilled liars to get whatever it was they wanted. Anything he said, she had to take with a grain of salt, easier said than done as it may have been.

Vi tried to duck back again, but wasn't as quick as she needed to be. He had her. Crap. Stuck with a demon who was going to pick at her mentally? Yeah, no. She was out of here as soon as she could get loose. There was a time to fight and a time to run, and she'd already made the mistake of thinking it was the former rather than the latter. Live to fight another day, as long as innocent lives were not in immediate danger.

"I know my type is new to the area so here's a little something. I'm a Slay-er. We don't sur-rend-er," she replied, staring up at him defiantly, emphasizing the syllables in the two words. "So I guess you're going to have to follow through on your stereotypical villain mantra." He would have to take her down because she was going kicking and screaming if all else failed. "Tag. You're it."

In a desperate bid to get free, she kicked out again, aiming for sensitive anatomy.

Well that was just rude. She was rude. The demon was beginning to wonder what Jacen saw in her. Cause there had to be something more substantial than the hair. He supposed she was plucky. No he hadn't been a psychiatrist, But he'd walked around in one a bit. He did enjoy the mind games, thats why he was doing this job for Meg, her Daddy being who he had been. But Meg was a pale imitation. "Mind games, do you think I have to lie being in this guy. The things he's done. With the sister all I had to do was point out a few fun little truths about the fun of his past, and you...oh you're fun. My sister got all kinds of worries spinning around in that pretty little head of yours didn't she?

He leaned in as his hand gripped her shoulder ready to knock her out, at least for the time being. Or maybe he wouldn't. Maybe it was better to have her being chatty. She wanted to fight, and he liked that about her. He was close to her now, maybe too close, and smiling again. That smile that just hadn't been Jacen. "You're not getting away. Surrender, even if its something you aren't used to, might just be your only option. Or would you rather fight me. With his powers. You won't win. I mean you're strong, you're very strong but..."

Kicking there was unfair. It wasn't a pain that would floor him completely but dammit if Jacen was almost pulling at any of the Force he could get to make the demon hurt. It deserved to hurt. It deserved all the pain in the world for what it was doing to Vi. The demon doubled over loosing its grip on Vi. But it reached out with an invisible Force Grip at her neck before she might get too far.

"Tag? Fine. Don't try to run from me Vi. Besides I'm the closest you're gonna get to an honest answer out of Jacen Solo. Isn't there anything you want to know?" Any questions she was too scared to ask. It might amuse him some before he let his sister at her. And he would let her have her fun. Vi meant nothing to the demon much as she did to Jacen deep inside. And that made it even more amusing.

God, she hated this demon. If there was any way to corporealize it after it was exorcised out of Jacen, she wanted to beat the unholy stuffing out of it. "Right. The things he has done," she replied pointedly. "You are not him." For the first time, Vi was struck by how similar the demons here were to the vampires back home. They had the personality, the memories of the person, but they weren't them. Only in this case, it was reversible. "You haven't. You're just watching the movies, not doing the deed."

It was fair game. He'd used Jacen to take digs at her, she was going to see if she could hit any vulnerable parts in the demon's mental armor. As long as they were talking, she wasn't kicking him and he wasn't knocking her unconscious or worse. She stifled a shiver at the smile that just looked wrong for him, even more telling of the demon riding shotgun. "I am strong and maybe I won't win, but at least I'll go down with the knowledge that I didn't let some demon talk me into being a wuss." Not that there was wrong with surrender, when it was appropriate.

Sorry, she mentally apologized to Jacen, wincing as she pulled back and away after the kick had landed. It was a low kick but it wasn't as if playing fair was a possibility. She started to run but only made it a few steps before something closed around her throat. Startled, she stumbled and landed on her knees. Great. GREAT plan, Vi.

There was still the knife up her sleeve and the one on her ankle, two very sharp blades that could leave a mark. But there was a difference between kicking him and stabbing him. She couldn't bring herself to do the latter. It was still Jacen, he just didn't have the control. Why did this world's demons have to be such pains in the ass? It had been easier when she could just kill them. Sitting back on her feet, she looked up at him. And now he had a hold of her that she couldn't even break, no matter how much she scraped at it. Stupid Force, stupid Demon, stupid broken seals, and stupid stupidness for being so stupid to run into danger without telling someone.

She shook her head silently. No. She'd ask Jacen, not some demonic messenger who would twist it to whatever suited him.

He was just as good. And Jacen was practicly him now wasn't he. So all the evil he'd done was the demon now just as much as the Sith Lord. It was. And this girl wasn't about to make him reconsider that. She just wasn't. She was wrong. So wrong. "Nah, Jacen and me, we're one and the same now. He's gone. Locked all away deep inside and I'm the one in charge. So just forget about him and worry about yourself. Don't try and weaken me with all this stupid talk about me not being him. You know how we got Jacen? Made him hear them, all the people he hurt. And it made him sloppy, and weak. And I got in. I know the tricks sweetheart and I am so much stronger than him. In the mind anyway."

She was still fighting back, which was cute and all but this demon had a handle on the most impressive of the powers, even if he did say so himself. He'd seen Star Wars one time, topside. And that choke thing, he could do that. And the lightning. "Not being chatty little Miss no surrender. You don't want to ask him anything. This face, you have to have some things you want to know". She did, she had questions and he could see it so easily, just by looking at her. He moved closer to her, keeping the hold at her throat. Not weakening it but not forcing it tighter either. She wasn't supposed to die yet after all. She'd be a very boring prisoner then.

"What's it to be, cause...y'know, either we talk like this, play nice for a while or I'll get bored, call my sister and we'll have to have a little fun. It'll hurt. It'll hurt a lot and maybe you'll even die by the end. Who knows?" He shrugged and leaned a little closer still waiting for her answer.

"If you are one and the same now, why do you keep referring to him seperately?" she asked. "You're in charge now but it's only a matter of time until he makes you his bitch by Force." Different dimensions, different rules. She wasn't sure if that could even happen but Jacen was stubborn enough that if anyone could, he could. "Or he makes you sloppy and weak. Then he'll get out." Even if it wasn't possible, she wasn't about to say anything to feed the demon's ego. It had enough of one as it was.

It was tempting to give some smartass reply. In the face of danger, it was what the Sunnydale crew did best. Well, save the world first and then smartassery. "If I have questions to ask him, I'll ask him. Not some middleman who would turn the answer into a game of Telephone. I paid attention in class." Stupid. She should have run when she had the chance. It might not have done any good but it was an opening and she'd just let it slide.

Vi stared at the pavement, at his shoes, looking anywhere but his face, trying to buy herself a few moments to think while trying to give the appearance of considering the offer. She bit her lip, closed her eyes, and briefly considered trying the exorcism. No way she could get out more than a line before he tightened that grip. Plan B? ...was taking its dear, sweet time. "Ok," she said finally, quietly. "I do. I do have a question."

He actually had an answer to that one. "Jacen thinks its creepy when people talk in plural about themselves. Reminds him of an enemy he'd rather forget. But all that aside, he's not getting out powerful as he might be he can't do that". Though the demon didn't sound half as confident as before, different dimensions...that didn't mean he could break free did it. That would be completely unfair if he could. Meg hadn't warned him about that. She'd have warned him wouldn't she? Him and his sister. He wasn't weak, neither of them were weak, That wasn't fair of her. She was playing dirty and that was entirely uncalled for. He thought he was being nice as demons went. She was still alive and he hadn't tortured her yet. That was more than nice in his opinion. "He's not getting out" said the demon, more to reassure himself than anything else. Stupid Slayer, making him question.

Not to mention he'd discovered she wasn't buying into his taunting anymore. That annoyed him. He was considering tightening the grip when she changed her mind. Well that was nice, that was something. He could deal with that. Better than her telling her Jacen was going to get control back. The thought kind of had him worried now that he was thinking of it. He couldn't have that, couldn't have him taking control back. Mostly cause he'd wind up in trouble. Jacen was explaining, inside his mind just how many new and inventive tortures he could use on him, all the ways he knew to hurt. And there were so so many.

But the question. He could deal with that, he thought, hunkering down opposite Vi and watching her, dark eyes darting from side to side as he waited for the question wondering just what it was she could possibly have to ask him after all her protestations that it would be his answer and not Jacen's she'd get. That was probably true but sometimes he liked to use the truth. Especially with Jacen, it was fun sometimes, when he did that. It was entertaining and she'd never know the difference.

"You keep saying that." Would it be any help to Jacen if the demon was distracted, a little less confident? It worked for tripping up an enemy on the battlefield, but when it came to mind to mind, she wasn't sure how it worked. Thunderdome maybe? Two entities walked in, only one claimed the body?

And this was why it had been easier to dust her first vampires in Sunnydale, where she knew no one. The hesitation that came with seeing a familiar face on an enemy was costly. As the demon moved closer, she closed her eyes, head tilted down. Question. She needed one of those since she'd taken the demon's bait.

She blew out a breath and opened her eyes, hands resting on her knees. "All right," she said softly, staring at the ground for a moment longer before glancing over at him. "Does Jacen have a middle name? It really would make yelling at him after this is all over a little more effective."

He did keep saying that, and he would keep saying that. Because it was true. Because he was stronger in there than Jacen even if Jacen was pretty damn strong this was his world and he was a demon and thats what he could do, and she could just shut up about it and ask a question. Ask a question that didn't worry him. And he could feel Jacen inside, he was amused by the worry, and pushing back in response. He never stopped. Stupid pain in the ass, but then he supposed the powers were a trade off.

He readied himself for the question. Highly amused, ready to tear her apart even further, psychologically. "...Middle name" he repeated, thats what she wanted, middle name. He wasn't in the mood for this. Besides he didn't have any that the demon could figure.

"No, They don't really go in for it. But seriously is that all you need to know, his middle name, or lack of. There has to be something else you want to know about him, some deep dark secret you've been dying to work out." The demon was more amused than anything else by all of this. But he was going to have to work out what to do with her now.

"I'm gonna see about rope or something while you think, okay? I'll let the hold go once I'm sure you're not going to go anywhere" He could be just as polite as anything else. There was no sense in terrifying her just yet, not that he thought he could. She was one of those Slayer people. Not native but he was pretty sure she didn't spook easily
