Claudio's face had lit up once Sarah approached them--he hadn't noticed, being far too busy wondering about Brynna. Would it be rude to ask about the things she liked? Maybe he should buy her something here. That's what Newo always liked. But Brynna wasn't Newo. She was--she was amazing. He hated to admit it, but, probably moreso than Newo, and they'd been going out for years.
He thought nothing when Sarah approached him, save for the fact that she didn't seem the type for the mall. But neither was Claudio, and she seemed happy to meet them. In a strange way, he kind of saw Sarah as a bit of a mother figure form their pancake conversation earlier. A mother that could kick-ass and take names, of course, but he'd really appreciated her.
Brynna confirmed they were on a date and Claudio automatically put his arm around Brynna's shoulders, offering a rare full smile. He couldn't help it--the fact that the younger girl confirmed it out loud meant the world to him. "She's doing the shopping," he clarified, "I'm going to hold the bags."
He paused, tilting his head to the side. "It's good to see you here, though I never really pegged you for a mall person. What're you getting?"
