===========================
They had been following her for a little while lately. For days, perhaps. Following her. Tracking her movements. Of course she was a paranoid type, looking over her shoulder every few minutes everywhere that she walked in public, always assessing her surroundings, as though scouting possible exits for a just in case this goes to shit in seconds type of situation. Though to be fair. It actually was that type of situation. But that didn't matter. No matter what Sarah Connor knew, in spite of everything she had done to prepare herself.. it didn't matter. At the end of the day she was still a human. Granted, humanity had ways of surviving impossible odds. That much was seen in the movies about her world, as well as the TV show. But they had numbers. And they would prevail.
Sarah had been out once again, walking with purpose downtown. She had heard of a place that sold more equipment for her class. She had been thinking about investing in stabproof vests in case they went for real blade contact. She doubted it would go that way in the course, but best to be prepared. Besides.. people used knives in crimes, so who knows if a vest was needed in any case. She also planned to go purchase some extra knives, both real, rubber, and wooden. This was something she clearly knew about. But today had other things in store for her. She could have sworn she was being followed, but when she turned around, the couple people seemed to walk another path. Huh.. okay. So maybe she was a bit more paranoid. She was caught by surprise when a woman nearly bumped into her. "Oh! I'm sorry, it's my fault."
The woman shrugged.. though she inwardly was laughing with glee. "No harm done," she said with a nod, but then seemed very cautious and concerned. "Umm.. look, I need.. there's people after me, I know it. I know it seems crazy.."
Sarah shook her head. Don't get involved, she thought. Just keep going and let it go. But something was stopping her. She had the urge to find out what was the matter. "I know how that goes," she said then. "Maybe they are after you. I won't call you crazy."
I bet you know all about it, the female host thought snidely, but gave a quick nod. "I was looking for some fresh fruit at the market. But a couple of the customers, a cashier.. they.." She shook her head, playing the part of someone who was afraid to seem like a weird person detached from reality. "No, I must have imagined it. Nevermind.. just forget it." Then she turned around to walk away.
Sarah paused, holding up a hand, but then faltered, hesitating. Like an inner battle with herself. Should she let go and move on? Or find out what the case really was here? It was a minute before she spoke up. "Wait! No, tell me. Whatever it is, I won't judge. Just tell me.. you can talk to me. What's your name?"
The other woman smiled wickedly at that. But when she turned to face Sarah, her face held only worry. "Maria. It's just... well, their eyes. Maybe the way the light hit them. I had to imagine it. But it seemed dark. They have normal brown or black eyes. But.. I swear, they were full black. No light, no iris, just fully black as night."
"Demons," Sarah said, cursing under her breath, "those black eyed motherfuckers.." She looked up, clearing her throat. "You say there were three? How many in total? Did they speak to you?" Something seemed weird. If they were after this girl, why was she still breathing, or...
Maria wanted to smirk at the sudden cursing about demons. Ohh, this lady would get it. They'd ride her all the way back to Hell and beyond, using her skills and talents for darkness, probably even alive inside her mind but unable to stop herself from doing evil. "There were four, but I got away," the demon said quickly. "Could.. could you just walk me to my car? I'd feel better if I'm not alone. Then I'll just drive off."
Again, Sarah inwardly weighed the options, but chose to go with it. She was still a little suspicious about all this. But someone needed help. Someone needed to escape from demons. Once she was sure this girl was gone, she'd call the complex and make sure they knew demons were in this area. Maybe they could do a brief but massive track-and-exorcise mission. "Okay, lead the way," she said, nodding her consent.
Too easy. Maria then began to walk toward the parking lot. She led Sarah to the far end of the lot, beyond the overhead light. As they got closer to a car.. the other car doors suddenly unlocked and opened.. barring them from walking back out. Four men came out, smiling, with dark eyes. Maria turned around as well.. and looked right at Sarah with a grin. "You know, people keep saying that humans are resourceful and intelligent, but I'm just not seeing it. I can't believe you walked so easi-"
"Should have known something was wrong with your tale," Sarah cursed, shaking her head. "Should have known it when you weren't dead.. only other option is if you were possessed too." She couldn't believe what was happening. Five demons. She'd feel almost confident about facing one. Fleeing would be an option, definitely, but at least she had learned about traps and Latin. And she still had an amulet on. She saw two men close behind her, so she lashed out and went back, ramming an elbow into the nose, drawing blood. From that, she turned and kicked the second male on the side of the knee, sneering as she saw the guy stagger.
But that was foolish, ineffective. They soon regained their footing, laughing.. actually all of them laughed. She could abuse their suits as much as she wanted, they'd recover.. but if they left the host bodies, the bruising and attacks would be worse. But she was in this fight now. She yelled out, rushing to a third man, prepared to throw a strike to the neck which would normally be enough to incapacitate a soldier.
However, Maria held a hand up, and Sarah was unable to move. A flick of the wrist and the mother felt herself getting flung in the air, knocked with her back against the side of the truck. Sarah had been looking up from the pavement to see them getting closer. One of them said, "If you take it off, it'll be easier. It WILL come off. But we can avoid such unpleasantness-"
"Fuck you," Sarah said with steel in her eyes, swinging her leg upward and into the speaker's crotch; but that wasn't working either. The man had limped, but only for a moment. And now they were ever closer, laughing evilly at her situation as they grabbed her. One of them was about to swipe at her.
Maria shouted, holding her hand in a gesture, causing Sarah to gasp for air. Can't fight if you need to breathe. "No, no, no! Don't damage that meatsuit. We need it intact, remember? Well.. okay... maybe a bit." She laughed as the men struck at her sides, kneeing her in the stomach, followed by several slaps for good measure. They could feel her struggling as one grabbed the amulet. Pulled on the cord. Jerked it.... and heard the clang as the amulet fell down on the ground. "Great. Now we can get down to business." She couldn't wait to wear Sarah, she had talents, plus she was more athletic and in better shape than this cow she was currently wearing at the moment. It was time to trade up.
Sarah glared, wheezing as she could breathe once more. She had attempted several times to use the Latin, but against so many, all she'd gotten was a few extra punches to her body. She was in pain. She felt blood from her nose and mouth. Her vision slightly blurred from disorientation, after so much violence. But still she had that glare. She didn't fight.. but glared anyway. She spoke with venom, "I promise, if I survive, I'll call every hunter in existence, and then destroy ALL of you sorry motherf-"
The man closest interrupted her with a backhand strike to the jaw. "Damn, what a mouth! And you're supposed to be a mother?" The others laughed at that. They had already won. They all knew it, even the victim, they already had a victory here.
"The best mother you will ever meet, you lying sack of sh..." She gasped, unable to continue, her words suddenly cut off. All she could see was thick, thick black smoke coming over her. Over and in her, going into her nostrils, eyes, mouth, going deep into her form.. her mind went blank but silently screamed to the high heavens in mute protest. Her spirit and mind was quiet as everything that was Sarah had immediately taken a backseat to the demon Maria who took her over, who invaded her body and wore her like a nicely fitted dress. Her eyes opened then, filling with blackness as she let out a very harsh and excited laugh. Oh.. ohh, the memories of this host!! And not to mention everything she knew. Definitely a capable warrior and tactician. Very, very useful. With an inhuman sneer, she stomped her boot down on the amulet. There was no use for it anyway.
The four men nodded in agreement, pleased at their work as they started to get into their cars. "Hold it," Sarah said, raising her hand, pointing at the previous female body. Who was whimpering and in an obvious panic. "One of you, take that miserable sack of bones with you. I don't need her.. but you never know when another meatsuit will be needed, she'll be a fine spare. Or... maybe a bit of torture-- I mean, fun." She laughed, seeing the woman protest to no avail as the fourth men dragged her into the truck and then drove off. The other three possessed men began to leave as well. Alone now, Sarah grinned as she walked back toward the store, thinking about the next course of action. This was a good night. Of course, it would be even better once Lucifer was out walking free again....
