Leela had told Martha and Romana she was going out for a run. She hated being cooped up inside and lately, she was really missing the forests of her home world. She even missed Gallfrey even though everything there seemed so synthetic and not organic. She'd left K-9 back in her apartment, having told him to power down to save his energy stores. And being Leela, she'd forgotten completely about the amulet she was supposed to wear when leaving the complex.
Dressed in her animal skins because she refused to wear anything else, she made her way to the park. She needed some time in nature, though she really wished she could go to a forested area. When she got there, she looked around and took a deep breath. She was getting so tired of this city, she wanted to go somewhere wild and free like the time where Romana had dragged her off to that vacation spot. Leela had barely convinced her friend to travel out into the wilderness of Davidia, let alone stay out under the stars for the night. She walked over to one tree and set her hand against it and closed her eyes. It wasn't the same, but it would do for now.
Leela was just starting to let herself relax when her senses her piqued. Her eyes flew open as she was suddenly overcome with a sense that something terrible, something evil was around. She drew her dagger and her eyes scanned the area. She didn't see anyone, but she knew better than to ignore the sense. It had saved the Doctor on more than one occasion, and it had saved her own skin more times than she could count.
"Who's there? Show yourself!" She demanded as she continued to slowly turn in a circle, her eyes looking for the smallest detail that was out of place. Though it was a little difficult for her to know exactly what was out of place on this alien planet. While she was human, she was not from Earth, and the times she'd visited Earth it had either been in Victorian London or just before the outbreak of World War II.
Then it happened. Someone was behind her and grabbed her. Leela cried out in surprise and tried to get free, but the arms were too strong. "Unhand me!" She cried and elbowed the person in the ribs, causing them to loosen their grip enough to let Leela get free. She spun and found herself face-to-face with a man, who had a bit of a cruel snarl on his face.
"Oh you'll do nicely," he spoke. Leela narrowed her eyes.
"I will do nicely for what? It is not so easy to defeat a warrior of the Sevateem!" She announced. Always the brave one, Leela never backed down from a fight, even when confronted with a foe bigger than she was. About the only time she ever had shown fear in a struggle had been when that giant rat had attacked her in the sewers of London. Thankfully the Doctor had appeared with an elephant gun and took care of the situation, but this time, Leela was on her own. There was no back-up coming. But she could take a human foe.
Or so she thought until she saw the black smoke coming out of the man. Leela blinked in confusion, but before she could ask what was happening, the smoke was around her. The last thing she thought before the demon wrenched away control of her was of Romana and how she'd undoubtedly yell at her for going out alone.
Once in control, Azura rolled her head and looked the knife in her hand over. "Well, now this is interesting. I didn't expect this," she commented, then looked down at her clothes. "The fashion sense could use a lot of work though." She made a face and put the dagger back in it's sheath, then walked off. She helped herself to Leela's memories, and found some very interesting things there, especially in relation to the woman called Romana. An evil smirk crossed her face. Oh the fun she would have tormenting Romana. And she felt Leela's sense of betrayal and need for revenge, but also found that the woman would never have acted on it. Too loyal. Well, Azura would definitely take the opportunity to drive the dagger deeper between those two. She would take revenge on Leela's behalf and had no care about what consequences would come. In fact, she relished in it.
