Who: Brittany and OPEN
Where: The park
When: Afternoon, just after high school would normally let out
What: Arriving, confusion, pondering on a more sustainable lifestyle
Warnings: Depends on the welcome wagon I expect, nothing for now

Brittany knew three things.

1. If she was not at Cheerios practice in three minutes Coach Sylvester would make her run laps until she was satisfied she was going to either have a heart attack or never be late again
2. You could not feed a pony steak no matter how hungry it looked or the man giving the pony rides would yell at you
3. Trees did not belong in high schools.

There were no ponies anywhere near here but there were a lot of trees. Also a sign about picking up litter in a park. Maybe high school was a park now. She'd heard on the news that people had to help the environment because someone spilled oil on it. Parks were probably better for the earth than high schools. So trees were good and there were no ponies but she still had no idea how to get to Cheerios and that was pretty bad. She concentrated for a minute, relaxing all her muscles and letting her mouth hang slightly open because when you were relaxed your brain could work better. Then it came to her: Santana would know what to do. She whipped out her cellphone, dialed...and...nothing but some beeps and a voice that wasn't Santana saying the number was not in service. Maybe cell phones were bad for the earth too? Whatever was going on she had to find the gym soon. If you ran enough laps, she knew from experience, sometimes you, like, barfed.

“Um,” she said, tapping the nearest passerby on the shoulder, “where's the gym?”

Quinn had not yet gotten to the point where walking was becoming an issue though she knew that Puck wouldn't approve of her doing it alone. He'd started to see her as some kind of fragile thing that he was scared to act in any way wrong around. Though she was fine with that too. She'd keep him like that for as long as she could possibly manage since he was the one that had done this to her. She'd decided however that she could manage to go to the shops a little ways from the Complex on her own and pick up a few things she'd been craving with the money Puck had started making for them. He had, to his credit, stepped up to be the father to their baby she'd never believed him possible of being. She had her amulet round her neck, tucked inside her clothing and had told people where she was going so she'd done everything right.

Crossing the street though she heard the familiar voice before she saw the blonde girl that had been one of her best friends back at McKinley. She wasn't sure how Brittany would cope with this world or the crazy she'd just dropped into but there was no way Quinn was leaving her to it. This was her friend. "Brittany?" she called moving as quickly as she could manage across the street and toward the girl, the overheard question about the gym making her smile slightly. She was worried about being late for practice. Quinn understood the feeling completely.

"You're actually not near the gym at all" she told her wondering how to do the explaining. She'd never had to do the explaining and wasn't sure where to start. "I can bring you to where Finn and Puck are and we can all talk though, explain things?" There. That's what she'd do. Foist the crazy explainations off on them.

If there was one thing being a cheerleader at McKinley prepared you for it was dropping ten pounds in three days while miraculously retaining the ability to hoist an entire human-being into the air with the strength of your arms. If there was anything else it prepared you for it was ignoring unimportant people and so when she heard Quinn's voice Brittany turned away from the confused pedestrian she'd accosted for directions as if they had simply ceased to exist and bounded towards her friend. Santana was usually the one who told Brittany things like where the gym was or which hand was her left, before she'd gotten pregnant Quinn was always really busy being head of everything and now she was usually doing pregnant people stuff, but she would still know what to do.

"I didn't take any of my antibiotics?" she said, her voice rising disconcertingly into a question, "But I still don't really know where I am?" She paused and considered Quinn's suggestion. Finn and Puck wouldn't know where the gym was any more than Quinn would they? They didn't even dance, or at least Finn didn't. Puck probably danced. People who were good at sex were good at dancing and the other way around too. So why couldn't Quinn just show her? Then a thought occurred to her and she widened her eyes and lowered her voice, directing it as far away from Quinn's stomach as she could, up into the air above her head, "Quinn," she whispered, "does your baby ever steal your thoughts? For food?"

It was definitely Brittany and despite all the crazy Quinn was happy to see her friend. She'd missed her, a hell of a lot more than Santana and her sexting at any rate and it'd be nice to have someone to talk to that wasn't Puck or the weird awkward that was talking to Finn lately. She let herself smile at the antibiotics comment. No, for once Brittany hadn't gotten lost of her own accord and now Quinn had to explain as much of it as she could. "Um, werid as it sounds Brit, you're in Kansas, place called Lawrence. It's alright, its just a little hard to take in which is why we're gonna sit down and I'll talk you through it alright?"

At the widening of her friends eyes Quinn raised her eyebrows in confusion. Did her baby steal her thoughts? Did...

"No...no she doesn't steal my thoughts. She doesn't do anything except kick me occasionally if you want to feel it. It's kind of weird but its nice, lets me know she's okay in there." She looked back in the direction of the apartments ready to bring Brittany to safety before she explained about the crazy that was their life in this place. They'd just get somewhere safe, sit down, maybe with Finn and Puck and talk about it. "You wanna come back with me, you get a whole apartment to yourself and everything"

Brittany nodded in response to Quinn’s assertion that her baby was not, in fact, a mind-stealing psychic weapon of doom. Still, it couldn’t hurt to keep an eye on the bulge under her friend’s shirt, just in case, and so she did…until the thought of being in Kansas distracted her. She knew it wasn’t that weird to get lost walking home and end up in another state. When she got home the guidance councilor and state troopers owed her an apology.

Whatever, anyway, an apartment sounded really good. She’d never had her own apartment before. Though maybe living alone wouldn’t be great. Who would turn on the computer for her? “I’ll just share Santana’s apartment,” she said confidently as she took an obedient step in the direction that Quinn had indicated.

Santana's apartment. Well that would sort of be an issue since Santana wasn't so much here. Which Quinn personally saw as a good thing. Sure Santana had been her friend, sort of. But sexting of the father of her baby had kind of kicked that friendship to the curb. And 'sexting'? It even sounded tacky and awful. But Brittany would have to figure out a way to get by without Santana which Quinn was somewhat wary about, It'd be alright, she had friends here, and y'know. The others. It'd work out. "Santana's not here is the problem" she said simply, best to just get it out there. "But you can stay at the apartments and maybe she'll turn up. It could happen"

It wouldn't happen. Quinn liked things just the way they were without Santana around flirting with Puck and with Finn and whoever else she decided made sense to her at the time. It was more than a little irritating and Quinn did not like being irritated. And nor did her baby. Who did not steal thoughts but would not like Santana either. Quinn was weirdly looking forward to there being a little person who she got to show the world to. Not that she'd wanted to keep it but in this strange world and with all the horrible things out there being with her in the safety of the complex and with the people around her this was the safest place for it.

"You can stay near me, Puck stays on the same floor. You can help me look after the baby when she's born?" she offered not sure how Brittany would take to such an idea.
