Who: Star & Open Where: The covered carport out back of the complex When: Afternoontime Warnings: None to mild I'd think, depending on who shows up.
Star hadn't yet found all the pieces and parts she needed to get the Grand Am up and running again, but she was doing well on everything else, she'd gotten the seats installed and bolted down correctly, and she had a list of all the parts she still needed, mostly she was hoping that there'd be a swap meet somewhere nearby that she could get to, she'd probably make a killing there, they were her kind of people after all.
The car didn't have a working engine, but right at that moment she was connecting the next best thing: a working radio, or, at least, what she hoped was a working radio, she'd already been through two that didn't work, and she was starting to suspect that it was the sound system of the car itself and not the actual stereo units she was plugging in. She was in the passenger side, with the seat tilted back so that it was out of her way, toolkit on the driver's seat, manual propped up on the dash behind the steering wheel so that she could actually see it. Her brow was creased in utter concentration, making sure that she did have Tab A inserted into Slot B and connected by Wire C.
Once she'd gone over it once more, just to be sure, she slotted it carefully into place, switching it on, only to jolt back like a startled cat when it came on, at almost full volume, she batted at it quickly to turn it down, realizing a moment later that it was Rooster, by Alice in Chains, which was a song she knew well. It was the first real music she'd heard, all those years ago when Marcus had managed to get that Jeep running, when they were all still on the run. She smiled, though it was a little bittersweet, glancing skyward and mouthing 'thank you', because hearing that song, after working on the car, it made her feel a little like Kyle was still looking out for her.
