Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:brynna addams, kendra

WHO: Brynna Addams and Kendra
WHAT: One of the seven levels of hell ... no. Umm. Torture. No. Wait. Teen shopping!
WHEN: Backdated to -- I'll get back to you on that
WHERE: A mall -- will also get back to you on that
STATUS: Closed/Incomplete

Kendra had no idea how she got herself into these things. She supposed that was the sacrifice one made when one had friends.

Brynna had gotten it into her head to take Kendra shopping. However, Kendra was rather certain that somewhere while explaining the situation to her, Brynna had never once mentioned the word torture. Yet that was what this felt like it was. Embarrassing torture. The History Channel had mentioned something of the kind. Humiliation. Though they had never once mentioned that shopping fit into the description.

There was the very distinct possibility that Kendra was being overly dramatic. In which case you should all applaud her ascent to the typical thought process of being a typical teenager. However, in her own mind, Kendra was being completely and utterly serious. Her cheeks manage to grow hot from just looking at some of the outfits on display.

Half of the garments on display would look indecent on Mr. Pointy, the teddy bear that Dawn had gifted her with ... not the stake. There was no way she was even sparing them a second glance let alone trying any of them out.

As for the shoes? Don't even get her started on the shoes ...

Brynna knew that Kendra wasn't exactly comfortable doing "normal" yeenaged things but she was determined to get her friend to lighten up a little and have a little harmless fun. She knew that most clothes would probably make Kendra uncomfortable and she really didn't want that. She did, however, want her to learn to be a bit more herself. The problem was, Brynna was pretty sure that Kendra hadn't quite figured that out yet. Who she was, that is.

Brynna gave Kendra a sympathetic look, "Yeah, I know that a lot of this isn't really your thing. But here's the thing. I hate seeing you in just the one shirt and pair of cargo pants. I accidentally showed up here with money and I'm managing to pull in a decent crappy wage at the cafe. So we aren't leaving this mall until you have at least a week's worth of clothing. I don't expect it to be fashionable because well, most fashionable clothes suck but I don't want you wearing a potato sack either," she gave Kendra a mock-stern look, "Do you understand me?"

Kendra looked down her clothing with a frown. She liked her one shirt and pair of cargo pants look. It had suited her for quite some time. Did Brynna want her to get a weeks worth of shirts and cargo pants? That seemed rather wasteful. Kendra knew that wasn't what the other female intended but it seemed even more wasteful to her. And she had a tiny moment when she considered doing just that. Getting just cargo pants and long sleeved shirts. Or at least layered shirts. However, that would be a slap on Brynna's sincere efforts and even Kendra wasn't that mean.

Rolling her eyes, she said, "It is not as if I wear potato sacks now." She said, lips pursing slightly. "However, I will buy something different. Just remember I am only doing this for you. I am quite comfortable with my clothing choice." She didn't understand why people pressed this teenage thing. She knew that they meant well but it just was NOT her.

At all.

"Jeans and T-shirts are really comfortable too and they can be cute," Brynna said diplomatically.

She led Kendra away from the skimpy, flashy, fashionable clothes in the front of the store and to the back where they hid the T-shirts and jeans. She pulled a pair of boyfriend cut jeans off the rack and handed them to Kendra.

"See, look at these, they're baggy and comfortable...and cute."

She left her somewhat bewildered friend standing with the jeans in her hand and made her way to the T-shirts. She grabbed a couple of neutrally shaded shirts that she knew from the cut would just barely skim Kendra's athletic shape but not impede her movements by being too tight or too loose. And on a whim she pulled down a black T-shirt that have brightly colored foil stars printed on it. The vivid colors would look fabulous on Kendra.

She handed the pile of shirts to Kendra and gestured towards the fitting room, "Go try them on," she prodded.

Kendra's lips quirked slightly and she nodded once. As acknowledgment to Brynna's compromise and to the good sense of her words.

She followed Brynna easily through the crowd, grateful to be away from the indecent clothing. Her eyes looked over everything and it was almost as if she were mentally dismissing every single item of clothing. Every single thing was found as unfavorable. Her eyes turned to Brynna when the other female spoke, frowning slightly at the style of the clothing.

She didn't think she liked the way they rolled at the bottom. Why were like that. Could she unroll them if she chose to do so? "Would I be able to unroll the bottom of the pants if I chose to do so?" She asked. What? Did you expect the question to come out less formal out of her mouth?

However, Brynna was already moving to the shirts. A mental sigh of relief went through her small form at the sight of the neutral shirts. Her brow hiked up at the black shirt but she duly, loyally, kept her mouth shut.

Taking the clothing Kendra skeptically glanced at the fitting area. Immediately trying the jeans with the black shirt to get it over with.

Brynna was worried about sending Kendra into the dressing room alone. Partly because she knew that the other girl was not going to be pleased with trying clothes on. Thankfully the concern was overridden by a lack of desire to see Kendra in her skivvies.

Instead she stood on the other side of the door and waited to see what the verdict would be. After a minute or so of silence Brynna started worrying that Kendra hated everything and would be somehow upset or offended by Brynna choosing it for her.

Finally, she couldn't take it anymore, "So, what do you think?" she asked.

Kendra came out and looked at the mirror. She could do without the jeans but the shirt ... the shirt was more than acceptable. It was very ... alright? Was that the phrasing? She certainly wouldn't say cool. Not because it wasn't but because Kendra would rather not ever say 'cool'.

Smoothing down the shirt, that molded body frame a little bit more than she was accustomed to. She gave an approving nod. "It is bit too far from what I am accustomed for my liking. But ... I like di shirt." Kendra admitted. "I can do wit out di pants but I really like di shirt."

"Alright, we've made real progress then," Brynna resisted the urge to do a happy dance in the middle of the store, "Why don't you change back and then you can look through the jeans and see if there's something a bit more to your liking?"

She watched Kendra turn back towards the dressing rooms, "And give me the shirt, we're definitely getting that," and as much like it as possible she added silently.
