She was asking the right person when it came to that. "What? Is it wrong someone's afraid of crossing you? Hell no," he replied with a laugh. "Enjoy it." That might not have been the best answer but in Eliot's world, most of the time it was a good thing. There was always that ass that decided to hire out to take care of the problem but for the most part, one more person scared to cross him was one less problem he had to deal with.
Eliot hesitated, closing his mouth. It wasn't an answer he had to give much thought to. No one here long enough to see people come and go did. But he was talking to a worried kid with a baby on the way. "No one knows," he said finally, going with tactful honesty. "We don't have an idea of how the seal works. Sometimes it takes people together, sometimes it takes them separately." Then sometimes, it brought them back months later, from different places in their lives or without remembering they were here to begin with. "It's possible that it might." If it decided to send them back at all.
"There might be some in the pantry." The change of subject wasn't unwelcome. It was one he'd been over a million times in his mind and grew frustrated every single time when he came no closer to an answer than he had been before. "You mind checking for me?"
