Who: Claudio Kilgannon, Brynna Addams
When: Afternoon
Where: Park
What: Trying to calm himself
Rating/Warnings: TBD

He knew stealing was wrong, but he'd managed to swallow the guilt. Besides, it wasn't like he was some criminal mastermind, he told himself. It was just swiping some food, not a car. It had been pretty simple, too. He was getting a hang of his powers.

Then again, Claudio didn't exactly have to go to an art store and lift supplies, either. He had excused that one as food for his mind--a little mental health pick-me-up, since he sure as hell needed it. It was an odd little quirk, but when Claudio was drawing, he just stopped worrying. about anything. About his girlfriend and what she was doing now, about how his sister's life had been ended with a hammer to the back of the head and how it had been his dad that did it, his mother watching in horror but quiet acceptance, about how this planet didn't have the right number of suns for it to be Shylos Ten, about how the garbage scow he'd been on had seemingly disappeared... The list went on.

He sighed heavily, concentrating on drawing: the scenery he was looking at, just a simple landscape. He was lying down on a park bench, hood drawn, feet propped up awkwardly to hold the stolen sketchbook upright as the bag to put it all in (which he'd phased through the store next door to get) lay haphazardly on the grass below him. So far the sketch wasn't spectacular for his standards, but he had very high ones when it came to his art. It was what made him happy. His dad thought he should drop it and join a sports team, but his mom had always been encouraging about it. And now...

Annoyed with himself for even thinking about it, Claudio's hand jerked and he found a harsh, angry black line on what was once a decent piece of art. It would still be there when he erased it, too. Impatient, he set the pencil down and ripped the page from the sketchbook, crumpling it up and throwing it as far as he could.

"Lame!" he announced, but he wasn't sure if it was at the ruined work or the entire situation. He normally didn't get so downtrodden over something so trivial, but he didn't even know where the hell he was. Claudio figured he was allowed to be a little pissy.

Brynna's morning at the cafe had been one of those days that you think are non-existant in real life. It seemed that everyone ordered ridiculously complicated drinks and were unhappy when the actually received exactly what they asked for. She was still trying to figureout why someone would order a drink that was half soy and half two percent. Were they half lactose intolerant? Really.

She cut through the park not thinking about where she was going, only thinking about getting back to her apartment and the pint of Starbuck's hot chocolate ice cream that she knew was waiting for her. Between that and a viewing of The Breakfast Club she might be able to put this crap day behind her.

She was passing a bench in the park when she was pelted with a wadded up piece of paper. She looked up sharply, preparing to snap at the person who threw it until she saw that he was about her age and clearly not in the best of moods.

She turned to face him, "Are you okay?" she asked loudly enough for him to hear her.

Claudio wasn't sure if the voice was for him or not, still stewing from his botched artwork and the rest of the events. A split second later, however, he realized that he was the only one in the park and sat upright, blinking rapidly. For a moment he looked almost confused and disoriented, looking around for the source of the voice—and he was. He'd been in his own little world for the entire day, it was odd coming back down to..Whatever this planet was.

Finding the voice was easy enough, and when he saw the crumpled up sketch it wasn't hard for the teenager to put two and two together. Pulling the hoodie down, he grinned sheepishly, ruffling his own hair in embarrassment. Not a good way to start off his first actual interaction with anyone here. Maybe he could still phase through the ground?

Or, you know, be a normal human being and just apologize.

“Yeah, I'm okay. Just a really, uh, weird day. Hey—sorry if I hit you or anything,” he'd decided to take the less freaky route. “But at least it's just paper, right?” She looked nice, he thought. A teeny bit younger than him, but not by much. The same gorgeous blue eyes as his girlfriend. Or.. his ex now, he supposed, since he'd never really be able to see her again.

“But thanks for asking.” The smile was small and shy, but genuine. Most people just left him alone. Which was fine, he liked his distance, but she seemed actually curious about it. Kind of like he was curious about a lot of things... Like where the hell he was, for starters.

Brynna chuckled, "I've had my share of those. I guess it comes with the territory."

She deliberately left things vague. She couldn't say for certain, but generally around here, 'I've had a weird day' was another term for 'Somehow I ended up in another dimension.' And it had been a while since the seal had brought a teenager here so there was a certain logic in assuming that he wasn't from around these parts.

"Are you new here?" she asked trying to keep her tone innocent, "Do you need a place to stay?"

She could tell by the supplies he was still holding that he was an artist and the fact that he was in the park in the middle of the afternoon made her think either he was one of them or he was a runaway. If he'd been brought here she would take him to the complex, if he was homeless she would take him to a shelter. Regardless she wasn't going to leave him in the park. Not with what she knew was running around.

“You're telling me,” Claudio mumbled. The pencil was long forgotten in the grass after he sat up, the sketchboo still in hand, and he had a sneaking suspicion that the other girl might know what was going on. Maybe he was crazy, but the way she was so vague about it, and how she assumed he didn't have a place to stay...

Which he didn't, he supposed, scrunching his nose in thought, lost in his own mind for a few moments before snapping out of it and offering another apologetic smile. Weird day, he mentally reminded. Dear God it's been a weird day.

“Kinda new, yeah. Very new, actually,” he corrected himself, trying not to laugh at how ridiculous he sounded. “Hey—can I ask you a weird question?” She seemed trustworthy enough. And if the girl with Newo's pretty eyes thought he was crazy, then no skin off of his back. He'd probably never run into her again anyway.

“Where exactly is this? City-wise, I mean.” He wanted to ask what planet, but he wasn't sure how well that would go over. It wasn't Shylos Ten. Or Hetricus, or any place he recognized. It was possible that he was on one of the 72 planets in the Keywork, but there weren't three suns. Just one Sirius Star.

“It's been a really confusing day,” He explained, hoping she wouldn't think he was too nuts. “I don't really know how I got here.”

Brynna chuckled and saw her opening, "I didn't know when I arrived either."

She gestured at the park bench, "Can I sit down?" she asked.

She knew that what she needed to tell him wasn't something that other people should overhear.

While she waited for his response she carefully considered her words. She knew that it probably wasn't smart to go into too much demony detail while in a public park but she can give the general idea and at least get him to the apartments and then explain things further from there.

When she arrived?

Claudio, slowly, began to genuinely smile. It wasn't quite a sheepish smirk like he had previously, but he was definitely relieved. He had a feeling she knew what was going on. Sitting up fully, he grabbed the bag and began putting his things away. Not that it was much in the first place, but it would give her room to sit.

"Claudio," He introduced, extending a hand. "Claudio Kilgannon. This is going to sound weird," Odd, he'd already said that twice in a row now. Was he just rambling because he was nervous? "I don't think I'm supposed to be here. Like, as in, I woke up here instead of where I belong."

Brynna sat down and gave him a sympathetic look, "Trust me, other than about four or five people I've met here, we all got here that way. I was running errands for my mother in New Orleans when I ended up here. And, of course, I thought my brother and his friends had played a joke on me."

She gestured at the somewhat idyllic scene in front of them, "Believe it or not, we were all brought here by a broken seal. There's a lot more to it but I don't think it's a good idea to talk about it out here because I don't really know who might overhear us."

She scooted a little closer to him and dropped her voice. She didn't mean to act like everything was a big secret but really it was, "If you need a place to stay the good guys set up an apartment building for us. We have classes and self defense and things. And, if you have powers which I don't, you also get time to work on them."

All got that way? Claudio's mind was racing, a small, happy smile tugging on his lips. This meant that he wasn't alone, and that was the core of the problem. Of course he hadn't realized that until now, but...

Unable to hold in his excitement, even though he didn't know what a seal was or where she was from, he wrapped her arms around her, placing a swift kiss on the cheek and hugging her tightly.

"I have powers!" he said excitedly. "I discovered them just recently. I can--I can phase through things, I can bring back the dead," She may have been whispering like it was a secret, but Claudio Kilgannon, hands still on the girl's shoulders. It didn't matter that he hadn't even said her name yet--he was far too relieved.

"You're a Godsend, a real piece of Keywork!" He beamed, ecstatic. "Where are you from? New Orleans? Is that like here?!"

Brynna laughed at Claudio's sudden enthusiasm, "I'm Brynna Addams and I'm not one who has any kind of power. My family is actually in the service of the good-guys in my world. Talon, one of the Dark-Hunters in New Orleans can bring back the dead and he talks to ghosts which is sometimes really weird because you'll be standing there thinking that you're talking to him and suddenly he's having another conversation."

He had taken her breath away a little when he'd suddenly hugged her and kissed her cheek. She hadn't had a boy that close to her since well before she came here. She was fairly sure that the last time was when Kyl Poitiers had kissed her when Tad had gotten him drunk on the moonshine that someone had left in the house.

When his hands didn't move her smile turned shy, "It is and it isn't. There is a New Orleans here and, if I went there I would recognize most of it but it still wouldn't be my New Orleans. Kyrian wouldn't be living in the Garden District, Liza wouldn't have her doll shop where you could get the best knives in New Orleans and Talon wouldn't be on the bayou with his pet gators."

Claudio listened intently, smile still on his face, nodding as she explained. A world way different from his own, and yet it brought so much comfort and so much relief he was beside himself. It was probably because they at least had the shared experience of not knowing what the hell was going on.

"Hey, a least you're from this planet," He reminded, though there was a gentle joking tone in his voice. He didn't regret that he'd shifted worlds, he'd just been lost and confused as to what exactly had happened. It would take adjusting, but until he could find a way back--if he wanted to find a way back--maybe it would be a fresh start. A chance to hide from the blue thing that had attacked him, his parents (if they were still out there and if they still wanted him dead) and maybe develop his powers.

Was be being overly gregarious about it? Probably, but Claudio figured if he didn't think like this the alternative would be to mope, and there was no reason to angst in a corner. His parents had taught him to make the best of what he had, after all.

"So, the good guys, they've got a place? I've kind of spent my last moments on a garbage ship..." He trailed off, amazed he didn't smell, though he had phased through the actual garbage wall to a small corridor for most of it. "It was pretty uncomfortable."
