When they went into the bathroom, he saw the small device laying out. It took more self-restraint than he normally had to exercise not to just reach out and see what it said, when Marian took a moment to do so. She finally did pick it up, and he could not help himself; he peeked over her shoulder, the word he saw hitting him with the same stunned amazement he heard in her voice.
He was already grinning when she glanced up at him. "Yes, you are," he agreed happily. Sliding his arms around her, he placed his hands low on her belly. Their baby was there-- tiny, obviously, but there. Resting his cheek on her head, he thought back to how perfect she had looked holding Seth, how it had hit him then how much he missed what they should have had, would have had if he had not left for war.
But they were finally getting that chance. When Marian turned all the way around to face him, he was hit with a fresh wave of excitement; and, with a laugh, (carefully) swung her around once, before kissing her deeply. He pulled back long enough to murmur, "I love you."
