He really meant it didn’t he? He saw her as the wronged party because he’d been the one to hurt her in his mind. She’d tried blaming herself and now he wasn’t letting her. Blaming himself instead, she could tell that. She wasn’t going to let him. She leaned into the grip quite easily in spite of everything that just happened. She wanted him to feel better. “Only if you promise not to either okay? It was a mistake, a stupid, dangerous mistake and neither you nor me should blame ourselves okay”. He wasn’t to blame and if he was telling her that then she could tell him. “You need more now, like I said, more than I can give you, so I guess we can figure it out from there. Once I get myself healed up we’ll work it out okay?” Because it had to be. All out, it would be fine. Because it had to be. “If you’d known you wouldn’t have done it. I know you and I know you’d never intentionally hurt me” He told her he’d stay and helped her settle on the bed, being utterly attentive, moving to remove her boots. All of it. Her hand slid back from his face and she smiled as sweetly as she could manage given she was still a little woozy. Him getting the blood off his face would probably help matters. Right now it just reminded her too much of everything that had just happened. She watched him as he went about his business in the kitchen, water would definitely help matters. And then he’d come and sit with her and make everything better.
He looked like himself again when he returned, she could see what the blood did for him, he looked healthy. That was good at least, that gaunt, haunted look was gone, Ruby was a lot more relaxed as she sipped at the water he’d brought her. He really did know how to look after her, and she knew it was guilt. She knew he didn’t want to forgive himself for what he’d done. But he had to. She’d make sure he did. She let him pull her back into his grip head resting against his chest again and relaxed, closing her eyes calmly. “We’ll be okay Sam, you and me, we’ll be fine because we always are. Yeah there are problems with this, of course there are, but we can stop them, we can fix this. You and me. We just have to promise each other that we’re doing the right thing, that we’re being careful, and that we never ever let it get this bad again” That was an important one. They had to make sure they were safer with the blood, if he was willing to cut a demon with the knife then doing anything else would be no different would it. It would be just the same only he would benefit. And they’d be better for it in the long run. “Are you okay?” she finally asked, more worried than anything else, she needed to make sure Sam had realised that she was going to be fine, if he was doing the broody guilt thing, she’d hit him. Who was she kidding though? He did the broody guilt thing anyway.
"You actually believe what I'm telling you here don't you Sam? Cause I'd get very offended if you're just nodding along and saying what you think I want to hear. I want you to tell me you're okay, and that you understand I'm fine"
