Entry tags:joy moy, riku

WHO: Riku and OPEN
WHAT: A chance encounter.
WHEN: Evening, January 14th
WHERE: Behind the complex.
WARNINGS: Hitting things! Maybe.

Riku felt like he had been getting slack in his training. Alright, it wasn't training so much as keeping himself in shape and everything since he wasn't exactly learning anything new with his keyblade and his magics. But still, he felt like he was getting slack. It would have been one thing had be been back on the islands, it had been peaceful there for three years now. But here, in this strange world (not that any of the others were no less strange) where anything could attack at any moment (not that the other worlds he had gone to to fight didn't have things that could attack at any moment) he should have been keeping up with his training.

Or he should be out there searching other places for a keyhole. Preferably with Sora, but Riku was getting to the point of restlessness that he was willing to go without him. The two of them had agreed to go out searching just after the new year began, but here it was, the middle of January and they were still getting restless.

At least he was willing to put it off for a few more days, but that didn't make him any less restless.

So instead of going off in search of a keyhole that may or may not be in this world and that may or may not be able to lock off the seal, Riku headed out back. Being from a chain of relatively tropical islands, Riku hated the cold. But that didn't mean that he wasn't about to do what he should have been doing more often. He didn't appear to be taking anything with him, all the weapons he needed to train with he could summon forth with a thought. And once he was out there he moved towards a stack of crates that he had piled out there a few days earlier. Holding out his hand in front of him he called that keyblade that he loved so much, looking just a touch smug as it appeared in his hand out of thin air.

Joy was bored, actually she was beyond bored. At least back home there were more things to do, here it seemed to be big kids versus little ones all over - and Joy was a little kid. At least Jo had offered to teach her how to fight, which Joy was more than thankful for. She didn't plan on going off and trying to be some action hero, if she could help it she wasn't going to get into a single fight - but she wanted to know how, just in case she did happen to find herself in a situation.

She missed her job. She really had had the best job back in the world back home. She was Joyful Joy, best friend to Big Bird. She taught Big Bird that it was alright he couldn't fly, because he had a big heart. In the same episode Beyonce appeared and Joy had gotten to sing a few lines of a song about how reading was fun with her. It really had been the highlight of Joy's career, and what she hoped would be the start of things to come.

But now she was here. In this freaky, messed up world and she was bored and lonely. She had taken to walking around the complex when she got really bored, which was even more boring but at least it was something. She had thankfully managed to get some warmer cloths, they weren't the best looking - Joy had become accustomed to dressing in brand name cloths, she wasn't a snob she just liked them. But cloths were cloths, at least she had some.

She had a thick brown winter coat on, and furry boots which looked like dead rabbits - but at least they kept her feet warm. She stopped her walk, when she saw someone - a guy, standing alone by some crates and then something which looked like a gigantic key appeared in his hand out of nowhere.

Joy's eyes widened. "Holy shi..." she clamped a hand over her mouth. She didn't know who this guy was, or if he was even good or bad or whatever it was the people here went on about. Still...wow.

When Riku heard someone speaking behind him he turned and perked a brow at the girl. He didn't plan on hurting her or anything, he wasn't like that. But instead he simply set the keyblade away just as easily as he had called it forth in the first place, crossed his arms, and leaned back against the stack of crates to watch her. It wasn't that he was trying to hide the keyblade or anything. Why should he be ashamed of something that he was chosen to wield?

But it was easy enough to tell that she wasn't used to that sort of thing. Especially as she stood there with those wide eyes and a hand clamped over her mouth. "You're probably going to want to get used to seeing weird things around here," he said simply. He wasn't trying to be an ass or anything, that just came naturally. But hell, that actually came out pretty nice. For Riku, at least. Sora was always getting onto him for being a jerk to people, but being a jerk was in his nature.

At least he was a jerk that genuinely tried to do the right thing, even if his way of getting to the right thing was sometimes questionable.

Joy removed her hand, and then crossed her arms over her chest. No way was she going to let her look like a complete and utter newbie - even if that was pretty much what she was. She was still getting used to the magic thing, the new world thing, the not being slightly famous thing, the being away from her friends. The latter one was the worst, but Joy was going to keep a brave face. Who knows they might end up here too.

"Actually," she replied, cocking her head to one side. "It was more a comment on your hair. I thought I wouldn't see anyone with nice hair here, everyone is so scruffy looking or like they're from a bad 90s TV movie." She made it up on the spot, it sounded lame and normally she was more creative, but it was the best she could come up with for now. "Gigantic key coming out of nowhere, please, people did stuff like that all the time at my school."

That was somewhat true. There were a few who thought themselves to be magicians, but their tricks usually had logically explanations - and what this guy had did didn't look like a simple trick.
