Camping out for long periods of time with books had been a hobby of Anna's for centuries. Or at least ever since books became available for just about anyone to read. She'd read thousands in her years and remembered just about all of them. It was the one thing she took pleasure in around here. Her mother was dead, and Jeremy was back in her world. Leaving Anna broken, and essential empty, she had shut off her emotions and her feelings, because it made it easier when she didn't have to deal with the loss of the two most important people in her life.
She lived with a Ms. Zaho, a middle aged widdow who was of Chinese origin but was born in America. She was passing as her niece. Of course Ms. Zhao knew exactly what Anna was, but she couldn't say anything. Anna had taken her time and worked her mind tricks carefully. Now whenever she went 'home' she was greeted with a smile. She didn't really get in Ms. Zhao's way, it was just a safe place to sleep, and a place where other vampires who needed invitations couldn't get at her. She never bit Ms. Zaho, that wasn't something she cared to do. Anna wasn't cruel, most of the time.
The librarian knew her well by now, so when she had answered Anna had given her a smile, as fake as it had been. She liked the women, she had been helpful and was thrilled that a 'young person' like Anna took so much pleasure from books. She'd disappeared into the library stacks. Anna was beginning to know the library like she knew the one back in Mystic Falls, though this one here was much bigger, and offered a better selection. Though she did miss the history section of Mystic Falls and their take on vampires.
The young-looking vampire was curled up on a chair in the corner of the library, basking in the sun that couldn't hurt her with her ring on. She was a section through Pride, Prejudice and Zombies. Though she had read it before, it was always entertaining to read again.
