"Hey, I'm glad you stopped by. It'll keep me from being bored for a little while." She wasn't stupid enough to expect him to feel the need to hang out at the comic shop for the entire day, after all. Steph wouldn't want to spend her entire day there if she wasn't getting paid for it, so she wouldn't ask others to subject themselves to the same thing.
When he mentioned the fact that it was slow in there she just shook her head, the smile still on her face. "Nah, not yet. It'll probably pick up once school gets out for the day, but at this time we usually just get people, mostly weird guys, without jobs. Or, you know. Ones that work weird schedules. That sort of thing." But before she had even finished that statement she noticed that he'd spotted her hands. Normally, that wouldn't be an awkward thing. But when you were wearing a wedding band from a marriage that was more than slightly awkward in how it got started? Yeah. That's when it became weird.
Without even thinking about what she was doing, Stephanie moved her hands so her left was covering her right, hiding the ring from view. "Uh. Right," she started, face going pretty red as she looked down at her hands, the smile turning into a somewhat bashful expression as she did so. "Actually, I wear it to work every day. Keeps the weirdos at bay. You know, the ones that don't get out of their moms basements often enough not to be shocked when they see a girl." And okay. Maybe there was the fact that she was perfectly happy with Ron and wasn't really looking out for any other options. In fact, she turned down other options when they presented themselves to her. But she wasn't exactly about to come right out and say that to him.
