What: Celebrating Christmas, Gordon family style (aka the night before!)

Where: Barbara's Apartment
Why: Becuase maybe, just maybe, Christmas Eve can be a tiny bit normal...

She didn't have a tree... of all the things that had been going on, Barbara hadn't even thought to get a full blown tree. She had instead taken the houseplant and had put some cut out decorations on it. It seemed kind of corny, but it was all that the fern could handle. Maybe next year, when things were less hectic, she'd get an actual tree, but with everything that had gone on? This year didn't seem the year to do it.

Not knowing what everyone would want she'd taken a chance and ordered both Chinese and pizza, there would be enough for everyone and if there was leftover... well everyone could partake. She wheeled around setting another bottle of soda on the table, stacking the presents she did have to give, and the little tropical-themed presents by the fern-dubbed-Christmas Tree.

Things were ready. Now all she had to do was wait for people to arrive... this was strangely home now. She hadn't been given any choice in the matter... This was the holidays. The last thing she thought most people wanted was to be alone now... Right? She's certainly hope not.

Even though Stephanie had gotten a really cute party dress that matched the heels she'd gotten a few days before, Stephanie decided to go more casual to the party. Instead she'd pulled on her new t-shirt with the Batman logo and a pair of jeans. Plus? That had been wearing when she went to work that morning. That and her wedding ring. She really only wore that to work, and that was just to keep the creepy ubernerds from hitting on her too much. You know. The ones that were gross and smelled bad. She had forgotten to take it off when she left the shop though.

Once she got home she quickly gathered her gifts and dropped by Ron's apartment to pick him up. Did it count as picking him up if she was just leading him from one apartment to another in the same building? Whatever. Either way it wasn't a big deal. Steph lived on the sixth floor of apartments, Ron on the second, Babs on the first. It was on the way.

Once she had him in tow she made her way down to Babs' apartment, a big smile on her face. "Hey, Babs!" She called out as she walked through the door that was hanging open. "You've got guests now! And gifts!" Hopefully Babs would keep her word and not get all super questiony on Ron. At least for the holidays. In the long run it would probably shock Steph more if Babs never got around to it, but if she just held off until after the holidays that would be awesome.

Barbara's attention turned from the window to the voice that came from the doorway, turning around and smiling when she saw Stephanie walking in with a tall redheaded man in tow. There was no question as to who this person was. It fit the description from the books perfectly and Babs had to shake her head as she wheeled over to give Steph a hug.

"I'm glad you could make it," she smiled before turning her attention to the new addition. "And you must be Ron." There was a knowing tone to her voice. "Welcome." She'd promised that she wouldn't interrogate... here anyway. She could do it later. After all Ron had married into the Bats. Certain things had to be done. People in costumes put a bullseye on the back of their chests. It went with the job unfortunately. As such Barbara had taken to watching the families just in case. Alfred has called it overkill, but in the end it had been important. While it hadn't saved anyone yet, there had been two fires that it had prevented.

All the same this newcomer was... interesting. Other than Zatanna she really didn't know any magic users. And she had a lot of questions. Still, she'd read the books. Since he came from the books, it was actually rather logical to suspect that all the answers were there. All the same a promise was a promise. "Gifts are going over there," she pointed to the pathetic looking Christmas non-tree. "Yours is the one wrapped in blue, small box," she grinned, "if you want to open it now before a lot of other people get here." She was keeping an eye on Ron, it might do better to pretend she didn't know, maybe make him more comfortable? She held out a hand, "I'm Barbara by the way, I don't know what Stephanie has told you." But she was pretty sure she'd never spoken to him on the boards.

Xander had ducked out for a little while to get drinks for the party. He knew that Babs had quite a few people dropping by, so he wanted to make sure that they were covered via beverages for the evening. What with Babs being in a wheelchair and all, it was difficult for her to come by a lot of the stuff that people had to get at the store without having a little help here and there. Xander had become wholly dedicated to making sure that she was covered by way of food lately. He'd stop in with pizza or donuts or some sort of fun snack, if only to make sure that she was eating and taking care of herself. Maybe his choice of food wasn't the most healthy in the world, but the poor woman had him so worried after she'd gotten injured during their little trip to AUland - all Xander really cared about was getting her something and making sure that she kept herself taken care of. She worked hard, she neglected herself sometimes, and he didn't want her to forget that she was a human. One that kind of needed to eat and do things outside of stare at a computer screen all day to survive.

With a box of beer tucked under one arm and a liter of soda in the other, Xander moved back into Babs' apartment and scanned the area. There were a few people dropping in already - he had spotted Steph and Ron on his way in - but it didn't look like he'd missed much of anything yet. Setting the drinks down on a nearby table, Xander tore the box of beer open and carried it toward the fridge. It'd be better chilled. Once he took care of tucking the box away (he'd pull it out in a little while), Xander grabbed a beer for himself and headed out to find Babs.

Once he spotted her, Xander snuck up behind Babs, grabbed her wheelchair by the handles, and leaned in from behind so that his head was poking in just a little ways from her own. Grinning, Xander cheerfully said, "Did ya miss me?"

She'd promised Stephanie that she wouldn't interrogate Ron, and all in all she was rather happy with herself that she'd managed to keep her word. She instead focused on straightening up last minute items. She'd already straightened the presents again and moved the food around. Barbara had left the door open, and she hoped that more people would come. This was the first time she was having people over. Usually it would just be Xander... not that she minded having Xander come over. She actually liked it, maybe more than she'd admit.

The open door seemed to do its job, especially when the voice of the person she'd just been thinking about popped up behind her... along with his head. Barbara turned her upper body, a smile instantly spread across her face. "You know I did." She tried to turn the chair around but he was holding the handles, so instead she turned her body around further. "Merry Christmas," she grinned before smirking somewhat playfully. "Hope you didn't have any trouble finding the place." Yes maybe she was flirting a bit... but it wasn't someting she had done in a long time. Not really. And it was more of a joke anyway.
