He smiled at her reaction, a little relieved-- and more than a little satisfied-- that she liked it. Even though it was quite similar to the last engagement ring he had given her, it was smaller enough that he was concerned that it would prove to be a disappointment. However, the look on her face reassured him.
"It pales in comparison to the woman wearing it," he said with a wink, raising her hand so that he could place a kiss just above the ring. The last time he had done so, it had been in sadness; this time was sheer celebration.
A new song began toward the smallish dance floor, where there were a handful of couples already swaying. Glancing from the dancing and then back to Marian, he asked, "Join me?"
