The sound of the door opening barely registered with her, taking a moment for her brain to realise that meant he was back. She tried her best to stop the tears that were falling, didn't want him to see just how hurt she was. Hurt at her own actions, hurt at how much he must feel betrayed by her. And what he had told her about...
She heard him move closer and soon he was close enough she could hear his breathing, loud in the awkward quietness of the room. She didn't want it to be like this, she wanted it full of laughter again. But right now she couldn't see past, they both couldn't see past, the things that had happened when they had been changed. And she didn't deserve him as much as she wanted to, not after what she did, and she had to keep herself away from him before she hurt him any more.
But she broke. She couldn't stop herself from throwing her arms around him at the moment he apologised, sliding to her knees on the floor so she could hold him closer, her face against his neck as the tears flowed freely, something she rarely allowed him to see. He wasn't meant to see her so weak.
