This was all kinds of awkward. His leg brushed against her, just that, just something so simple and she desperately wanted him to kiss her, and hold her and telll her things would get better. It wasn't just the things they had done in the elevator together. No it was more than that. Different to it as well. But she needed to focus, deaths, every twenty years, every twenty. There had to be something there. There had to be a reason. Something they could stop. Yes, they. Because it was them, wasn't it. Because Sam was right, he was supposed to be here.
"That implies I need to be made better a lot" she said, joking but at the back of it it was true, wasn't it? She did need someone like him. Someone strong like him, to stand with her and make her better. Maybe he made the darkness go away. She certainly had been thinking less about the horrible dreams since he'd been with her. Finally, slowly, Ruby leaned across to put the coffee on the table and as she leaned back up realised just how close she'd gotten to this man. And how quickly.
"Tell me its all gonna be okay?" she asked him, her now free hand moving to join their other linked ones. "Tell me you'll make sure Lauren knows I love her, tell me you'll make me better and make all this go away, all the ghosts and darkness."
He was special. She could see that in a way that she honestly believed no one else could, and the intensity of her feelings was testement to that, much as they scared her half to death with how strong they were. It wasn't normal, falling this fast. It couldn't be.
"Can you make me beter?" she asked, voice soft but almost shaking.
