Sam didn't like how upset Ruby had seemed while they were talking over the boards together. That was why he was so quick to agree to come and see her, even though he knew that after the release of that stupid video he probably should have focused on keeping his distance for a while. Not because he wanted to avoid Ruby out of feeling that she was a whore or whatever - Sam really didn't care about that crap - but because he didn't want to add another gaping hole to his reputation as of late. Between breaking up with Lois and having himself featured in a sexual way to the whole building, Sam didn't want to add on to that by giving people more ideas when it came to his relationship with Ruby. Those thoughts and feelings didn't seem to count for much as soon as he discovered that Ruby was upset about Lauren though. They quickly took a backseat to everything else, forgotten for now. He would worry about it later. During a time where Ruby didn't need someone to talk to so badly, maybe.
Or maybe he'd just forget that they existed. Period. Maybe.
It wasn't difficult for Sam to find the apartment that Ruby lived in. He had hit the neighborhood a few times before - there was a guy who lived there that sold quality drugs. Sam had crept out here more than once to purchase a few different things from him here and there, especially after those long days with Lois. He wasn't here for that tonight, however. As much as Sam was considering stopping by, he fought off that itch for now and focused on getting to Ruby's place. When he found the right door, Sam discovered that it was propped open...by Ruby herself. Maybe she had needed some fresh air; maybe she couldn't wait until he got there because the need for a talk was much worse than he had thought it was. Either way, Sam knew what he was looking at and it sure looked messy.
Sam glanced over his shoulder, halfway uncertain about interrupting Ruby when she was sitting there in tears. Did he wait? Leave and come back? What the hell was he supposed to do? Who said she even wanted him to see her like this? Sam looked down at the plastic cups of coffee in his hands - he'd stopped to pick them up on the way - before he cleared his throat. "...hey." He'd get her inside. Get some coffee in her. Maybe that'd help calm her down a bit. Sam sure hoped so.
