Yesterday had scared the heck out of her. Two were dead, and weird things were happening all around the building. It had come to the point that Billie was getting scared to come to work. Rumors and gossip were flying, though she tried not to listen to those. The gossip and lie tended to obscure the truth, and she wasn't interested in what wasn't the truth. She wasn't interested in sin. This had to be the issue. The sin in this building was over flowing. Everyone heard talk of affairs, scandals, abuse of power, hints of things that were just wrong.
No one believed her when she said that a chair had literally flew across the room. Or no one had paid attention. She knew people didn't like her, and that was their choice, though she had expected someone to think that a chair shattering into the wall was something to investigate. It was on security tapes. Why was it that none of the 'bosses' were investigating more into this?
She'd feel safer with the police. Or maybe a priest, because it was no doubt to her that this place was haunted, or possessed. When she had spoken to her priest, he seemed reluctant to believe her, though he knew Billie was devote, and wouldn't lie. He had humored her as best he could, but Billie knew he was still reluctant to accepted what she was saying.
Today she had arrived at work with her bible in her purse, larger cross around her neck that was more visible than the small silver one she usually wore, and an actual bottle of holy water in her purse. So far she had gone through the day without seeing anything.
Billie was leaving the cafeteria when she felt the temperature in the air drop, and as she breathed out, the air in front of her became visible. Fear seemed down her spine as she froze and then looked around slowly. She had done a complete one-eighty before she ended up back where she had been facing, and found herself seeing a woman. A very pale, very dead woman. Bruises around her face, and neck. When the image flickered, and then suddenly appeared much closer, Billie screamed, and stumbled back slightly, her arms flying up in front of her as if to hold the thing off.
A picture from the wall launched itself across the room, hitting the other wall and shattering. While at the same time, a large plant also flew across the room, shattering against the wall. She stumbled back, and landed smack on her backside against the wall. When she looked back up, the ghost was gone.
