Ruby shrugged, talking and tequila and that was all it had been. A fling cause they'd both needed to feel better about themselves for a little while. After Christmas she'd gone back to work and nothing had been mentioned. Nothing would be, she wasn't here to fuck up the life of the men she'd been with. She was quite content to be 'that woman' sometimes. "Don't worry about it" she said as he winced, "It happened, It was fun, but we can leave it there"
Not working, anyone who'd heard the stories could tell that right off. They really weren't working in any real way. In it for the kids, Ruby had to admit to getting pissed off at the statement. "Gotta ask why its better. I mean...kids aren't idiots, and if Mom and Dad aren't happy neither are they. I'm not looking to settle down just to keep Lauren with the perfect family because I don't think that I need to. I'd have loved if my parents had gotten divorced when I was nine and not nineteen. I might have actually liked them both better as people if I hadn't heard their flaws shouted around the house. And yeah, its hard. Hard on everyone. So you have to ask yourself if you want to work it out. If you think its worth it. If you hadn't have gotten her pregnant, would you ever have asked her to marry you? And the job thing has to be messed up. She's always there huh. Always, 24/7 no escape."
None of her business, none of her business. But it pissed her off that people did the 'for the sake of the kids' crap. That wasn't love that was duty. And the kids so rarely needed duty bound parents.
"Do you love her Sam? I mean hand on heart. Right now. Out here. Do you?"
She sat down on the bench and shrugged "I'm not good. Least I don't think. I just know that I love her and there's nothig I wouldn't do for her. And she should know her Grandmother. Even if it drives me nuts. She should know that side of her family cause its the only one she's gonna have for the forseeable future"
