The good humour of the conversation vanished with the mention of Marian. And why was he even surprised Robin had brought her up. That's all it ever was. Marian, Marian, Marian. Sometimes he just wanted to say to Robin that he didn't care that Marian was the love of his life. That Much had been with him through it all, hadn't turned his back on him and walked away from him like Marian had, and was the one who deserved his loyalty and...
Wait. He did just say best friend, didn't he? That wasn't expected. He thought, because as far as Robin could recall that conversation never did originally take place, that he would never hear those words from him. But what did he say? That he was jealous when he shouldn't be? That even he couldn't fully put in to words what he meant. That he somehow suspected that Robin was bringing this up with him and not with Marian. Because Marian was going to marry him and so Marian was just...oh dear. He was doing it again. He did try and let it go. He really did. But it was hard. Didn't Robin see that?
"What is it that you want to talk about exactly, Master. Robin. Because really, I don't think there is any problem. Except that she doesn't really want me here." He trailed off as he finished, realising it was pointless saying that. Robin would just disagree with him for the sake of agreeing with Marian anyway.
