Who: Barbara Gordon and Sam Winchester
What: Batterang lessons
When: Backdated to April 19, 2010
Where: Training area, Camp Bobby, South Dakota.
Why: Because we want to get Dean jealous! Its fun!
Status: Closed, incomplete.

She'd been unable to undertake part of today's training exercises. It had become a frustrating reality, but she'd decided (when there was no equivelent for her) to use it to train herself. She'd found an area where she could practice. Since arriving she hadn't really had a chance to train, now that there was space (and it wasn't a pain to get down to the gymnasium, she'd only done it once) she'd taken advantage of it whenever she could.

Today she was working with the batterangs in the yard, using some of the already-present items as targets. She hadn't lost her touch. She kept her posture up, holding a hand up to catch it. It was just like always. The right throw and it came back. It was more complex than a boomerang, but those weren't easy to throw either. She flexed her hand, passing the weapon to her free one and examining it. It had hit the target. There weren't any scratches. She only had six with her so she knew she had to be careful. After all without the Cave she didn't truly have the equipment here to make any more. But still it was necessary to keep in practice. She knew this as she let it fly again.

Being back at Bobby's place wasn't a permanent thing for Sam. In fact, if things went according to plan, he'd be back in Lawrence by early morning tomorrow. He had just wanted to swing by and check up on everyone and everything, seeing as he'd been spending most of his time back in Lawrence investigating the mystery case of the random bones. No results had turned up on that part as of yet, but being back in Lawrence was by far a better thing for him than being here training everyone. Sam didn't mind helping, really - but he usually preferred to do the helping when he wasn't a desperate, unfocused mess. Seeing as his attention was primarily fixated on no other than Lilith lately, it seemed next to impossible for him to keep repeatedly training everyone when all he wanted to do was find the bitch and make her scream. Harsh? Yes. Necessary? Hell yes. So stopping in, checking up on everyone, and then making a turn right back for the exit had been the basic plan for Sam that day. He didn't think that anyone would need anything drastic of him - these people were in good hands, after all - but he'd have felt guilty for playing the avoidance, no show card all the same.

Sam had been moving back to the car he had jacked for the drive over when he caught a glimpse of Babs in the distance. She was tossing something at the targets - something noticeable enough to make Sam halt in his footsteps. Rather than directing himself toward the beat up truck he had stolen, Sam moved over to where Babs had situated herself and cleared his throat gently. "Are those...what I think they are?" If they were, he couldn't deny being a little more than intrigued. It wasn't every day that one got to see a device that only existed in comic books, after all.

Barbara stretched her shoulder slightly, preparing to take another throw when she heard something behind her, and - turning slightly - saw Sam standing there, floppy hair and all. She tilted her head to the side momentarily wondering what he was looking at, until she realized exactly what he must have meant. She looked down at the item in her hand and smiled.

"You caught me," she smirked, turning her chair around towards him. She glanced up at him befoer nodding. "Yeah. I'm afraid it is." She let it go flying again before it came back to her hand. "Just wanted to make sure that I hadn't lost it." She glanced down at the Baterang in her hand again before holding it out. Buffy had tossed one back at the complex and she was teaching Xander - she could understand the facination with them they didn't exist in this world... not really. "Go ahead." She knew from the way he was lookingat it that he probably wanted to.

"It doesn't look like you lost much of anything," Sam commented, smiling lightly. Wow. Wow. He certainly wasn't the biggest comic book geek in all the world, but Sam knew what it meant to look at something like that in person. It wasn't a movie prop. It wasn't something that someone had tried to imitate making. It was the real thing. This was kind of like being able to go to Hogwarts, where he'd find Dumbledore's wand. Or, okay, maybe not Dumbledore's wand. If he found Dumbledore's wand, Sam might actually do something embarrassing by way of reacting. Something along the lines of jumping up and down and making himself look like an excited little girl. This was like...finding one of the Patil's wands. It was cool. Very cool.

Then, of course, Barbara had to change things up on him. Rather than giving him the opportunity to look at one of the baterang's in awe, she extended it to him. What...exactly did he want him to do with that? He frowned slightly, before he reached forward and took it into his hands and looked down at it. Surprisingly, it wasn't as heavy as it looked like it might have been.

"How...exactly do you -" Sam clamped his mouth shut. "Is it like a frisbee? I've never thrown one of these before. I've done knives. But not this."
