Sarah Connor wished she could be surprised at this. She actually was, not that she'd openly admit it. Or even privately. She had been transported to another time and place before. But the last time it happened, she had jumped ahead eight years and knew it was happening. This was completely without her knowledge. There had been no warning. No countdown, no blue sphere of light around her. Unless.. no, she'd stepped out of the radius of it in Weaver's basement. And she doubted she had jumped forward yet another eight years. If she had, then her surroundings would be much different. There would be ruins, rubble everywhere, similar to a war zone. With overhead flying machines known as HKs scouting above. But that wasn't it. It just seemed as normal as any other region in the world. It clearly wasn't Los Angeles. She could see that much as she took in her surroundings, also noting that exits were available in several directions.
She also still had her clothes, so that was another sign that this was unique. She still had her boots, jeans, shirt, and leather jacket. Not to mention the pistol on her side, hidden by the jacket. That told her right away that Skynet or the Resistance was not involved in this, in any way. It had to be something else. But what? That's what she needed to find out. She was currently on a road. So she'd keep walking until she saw a sign. And sure enough, she had found one that indicated she was in Lawrence, Kansas. Sarah wondered if that was a joke or irony. One of the cover stories she'd given John when starting school last year was that he came from Lawrence. Maybe she could use that same cover. The fact that she suddenly showed up miles away from her original point was still a bit surprising. There had to be someone that could give answers.
But then she had an idea. She still had her phone. She could call up James Ellison. Last time she'd seen the former Fed, he had went to get Savannah Weaver.. maybe he could come get her and bring her back. It would be quite a long drive. Though he did mention before about needing to repay her for saving his life. Maybe it was time to call in that favor. But then if they discovered she was in contact with him, a machine would be able to use him to get to her, and then get to John. Maybe if she were brief, say as little as possible so it wasn't traced. So she dialed the number and her cell and cautiously held it to her ear. "April 21st," she spoke into it. That was her code. One side gives the date and the other gives the year. But she didn't know the current date, so she settled for Judgment Day. But there was static on the other end. She ended it and tried again. "2011!" But still the same problem. There was only white noise on the other side of the line. Frustrated, she held the device in her hand after hanging up, shaking her head as she swore to herself. This was not good at all.
