[OOC NOTE TO DOCTOR WHO FANS: If you still have not yet seen the 2009 Christmas special "The End of Time," this post contains spoilers for it. Just so you are aware!]
It had been an inconvenience when he'd first appeared here. He had just gotten the Immortality Gate up and running back on Earth and had been ready to turn every single person on Earth into him. Well, at least he still had the Gate here. It was in working order still, but until he got a handle on why he was even here and what was going on, he would leave his plans for dominating the human race behind him. Besides, this Earth was all ready giving him unexpected fun.
Romana was here. Oh how he had relished in learning she was the other Time Lord here. He owed his present life to her for freeing him during the Time War. And he knew the Doctor's companions that were here were going to freak out, if they hadn't all ready. He relished in that, too. But for now, he didn't plan on doing anything to them. He would keep on his best behavior until he could figure Romana out. She had regenerated, and he needed to get a read on her. He didn't know her as well as he knew the Doctor, but all ready she was showing the same signs of not being able to leave him to his own devices and not letting harm come to him. After all, she had told him she wouldn't let the companions attack him as long as he didn't do anything to them. Well, he could do that. For now.
After arranging their meeting place and time, the Master began a leisurely stroll towards the appointed spot. He had the hood of his sweatshirt pulled up over his head, shielding most of his face from view. Not that anyone except Martha and Jack would recognize him, but he liked being incognito.
As he began walking along the streets, the smell of food filled his nostrils. Inwardly he cursed Lucy for sabotaging his resurrection and trapping him in this dying body with an unending ravenous hunger. As if he didn't have enough problems with the incessant sound of drums pounding in his head. Now when his life energy was low, his body would flash back and forth between its normal state and a skeleton with muscle and eyeballs. He had eaten one person since arriving, but he needed so much more. That meal wouldn't last him for long, and if Romana didn't hurry up and get him a large amount of food, he'd go all Skeletor on her. Not that he'd mind doing so, it could work into his favor.
He found a cafe and stepped inside. He went and sat at a table in a far corner away from most other people in there. Romana should have been able to find him without much trouble. Following the sense they had for each other should at least get her in the right block. With the hood pulled over his head, it wouldn't be so difficult to tell who he was. Romana had quite the surprise in store for her. In his current regeneration, he was almost completely unhinged, a slave to the drums and now a slave to his failing body and ravenous hunger. The Doctor had been horrified when he saw what the Master had become now. How would Romana react? There was a slight smirk curving his lips as he pondered over her possible reactions.
