“I’m not terrible. I’m amazing. And pretty, and pocket sized and you can’t stay sulky at me for too long” she teased, besides her impression was amazing. Dead on. She leaned into his arms, all the while loving this feeling that everything was good between them. Friendly and light, without worry or avoidance or heartache. And he was smiling, she’d missed that too, he got dimples and it was adorable. Even if he did deludedly think he could take her. Kick her ass. That was probably close to adorable too. “But mocking you is so much fun!” she continued, “Really you can’t take that away from me. It would be cruel.” Ruby loved the banter, the joking, but there was a serious side to all of this too, a side that in the end was going to sting whatever way they looked at it. Things weren’t done with Lilith. Things weren’t going to be done until she was dead. But they had to be careful, so careful. And it wasn’t going to be easy. Not with Lilith. Of all people, not with Lilith.
He was lying to her about letting her help, or if not lying then not being completely honest, she could tell just by looking at him. He couldn’t meet her eyes. But it didn’t matter because she was going to helped him whether he liked it or not. She was going to be there for him. But this wasn’t the time to get into an argument about it. Not when things were finally going right. No, he was happy, and she was happy to be with him and that's how it would stay in the here and now. Besides he’d need her and he’d figure that out soon enough. She could take care of herself couldn’t she, the kind of strong woman he said he needed, so unless he hadn’t meant that then Ruby knew full well she was in the right on this one. “You’re damn right I’m going to help. You don’t get rid of me that easy, and no one knows that bitch better than I do. I’ll be there when she dies. I’ll be by your side if...” If it was him. Ruby had never told Sam just what he had to do to kill Lilith. The amount of blood he had to drink...she didn’t know what it might do to him, how it might change him. She didn’t know if he’d still be the same Sam she loved when they were done. She truly honestly hoped so.
“The rest is us” she told him as his arms draped over her, she looked up, content to love and be loved by this man. He was telling her they’d live their lives. Not care about a plan, about a job or kids. They could just be together. “I am happy, I really am. And I’m sorry I got all...y’know, crazy. I just want to make you as happy as you make me. And if you say you really don’t care about all that stuff then I’ll take your word. I can’t give you that but I can give you everything I am. I have given you everything I am. And we’ll be okay. We have to be, I just won’t stand for anything else and you know about me when I want to be stubborn.” Ruby refused to let anything happen to Sam. Refused to let him be hurt, or worse. Lilith wasn’t going to take him from her even if she had to give herself up instead, selfish it may be but Sam had Dean, he had Andrea, Buffy. He’d go on easier than she would and that was all there was to it. But she could think about that another time, right now he was kissing her. Joking about assumptions and ripping her top just so if he was going to be guilty he’d actually do the crime. “Of course I’m trouble. And you love every single second of it.” She told him as their foreheads met, she loved being close with him. “I mean if I asked you to take me, here and now up against that wall. Right here...you’d want to wouldn’t you. In spite of where we are, you’d give in to it” It was Bobby’s place, and there was an inherent sense that they shouldn’t. But then they’d started out on a shouldn’t. “You know...even if we shouldn’t” she told him. She wasn’t sure what he’d do, but mostly she just wanted to see would he. Besides it had been a few days and their conversation and the fact that he knew full well just what trouble he’d taken on as his girlfriend, really she just wanted to live up to her exceptional reputation. “Think of the speculation...think of how bad they think we can be and you tell me we can’t multiply that by at least a hundred” Ruby pulled Sam into a deeper kiss and grinned wickedly. “Of course...that would be wrong”
