He’d watch over her. Ruby knew it was true and the very words filled her with warmth she wasn’t used to unless she was around him. He brought it out in her. Good things, good feelings. His arms wrapped around her and she couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of them sharing such a tender moment in a trap like this. It was just another sign that maybe they didn’t need to be ‘normal’ to be happy and in love. They could just be them, and this...all of this was them. He was right, she really was safe with him. “Dean’ll be fine. What it comes down to it, it’s you, like I said. Dean won’t attack me, like me or not, he knows I’m not going anywhere. We’ll work out a way to get along”. As for the rest, she’d told him she’d stop putting herself down, and she would most certainly try. She knew he loved her. That wasn’t up for debate and it was going to be enough. She’d look to him every time she needed to believe that she was somebody worthwhile. He wanted her, it didn’t take a genius to work out as he held her in his arms, kissing her hair. “You’re worth every second of all that trouble. Good and bad. You’re everything to me”
Of course even if he was everything to her, he was mocking her, that wouldn’t do. That wouldn’t do at all. “Don’t press that button Ruby, You’ll breeeak it. Have some salad Ruby! Harmlessly hexing people is wrong Ruby” she retorted, with what she believed to be a most perfect approximation of what she liked to call the bitch face. It was some kind of crazy man-pout and she had only known Sam to do it. And she loved him in spite of it. That had to mean something really impressive if she did say so herself. She watched with a defiant amusement as Sam unlocked her from the trap with a quick slice of the pocketknife across the floor. They were going to be okay, because nothing else was acceptable to her. Or it seemed to him, It was good. They were good. “I love it too, even the bitching. Its endearing, and you know full well no one else would put up with it” He was calling her a bitch, or telling her she used to be, and she supposed he was right, she had been. But that's what hell did. That was back when he was just the job. Saving his ass, lying about saving Dean’s. How she hadn’t offed him on that first meeting was highly impressive. Though she supposed he had the Colt. Which she’d helped fix. She wondered where it had gone, because it certainly hadn’t gone to Lilith when it was supposed to. Something had gone on there. But she would think about it when Sam wasn’t extolling her virtues. Telling her she wasn’t nothing, telling her she was growing and she had to let herself, even if something happened to him. And of course that was the kicker wasn’t it. If something happened to him. Is that what he was trying to let on here, Ruby hated that speech. “Is this the speech about how if anything happens to you I’m supposed to go on. You’re smart enough to know that's not what’s gonna happen. Cause first off nothing’s gonna happen, and second...well no. Just that first one. I won’t let it. I need you around. So if you think of doing something crazy heroic, bring me with you alright?”
