The bleeding had stopped, or at least it had slowed, but Cal wasn't sure that he was up to standing again just yet, so he stayed where he was, wiping another smear of blood from the other side. He shook his head at the questions, still trying to rattle his own thoughts into place, sort out what was him and what was the Auphe, because he knew those darker instincts, the hunt-chase-kill instincts, those were pure Auphe, "It's genetic." He finally said, "And I'm going to master it." The 'even if it kills me' was unspoken, but it was hovering somewhere near the end of that statement anyway.
He shook his head like a dog clearing water from its ears, "Maybe not today, but I will." He could already hear Niko, his brother, in the back of his mind, Nik had always been his conscience, telling him that this was a stupid thing to do, and if he died in a different dimension, Nik was going to kick his ass when he found him. He squashed that voice back down into the back of his mind where it usually stayed, "Usually I do it by accident. Life or death kind of thing. Instinct."
