It took a few long moments for Cal to realized that someone was actually talking to him, his ears were ringing something terrible, and in fact the left one was oozing blood, the right hadn't started yet, but it wasn't far behind. At least his nose had stopped to compensate, which he was sort of glad for, small blessings. That was pretty typical of his life, really, that not bleeding from all his orifices was a blessing.
He felt ... he wasn't sure what, really, he felt freer somehow, but also wilder, like he wanted to chase something down and tear it apart just for the fun of it. If it weren't for the fact that there was a spike of pain behind his eye he might try it again, just to see if he could.
He blinked blearily when he noticed the other man, squinting at him and trying his damnedest to read his lips, finally shaking his head, mopping the blood off his cheek and neck with a sleeve, "I have no idea what you just said."
