(ooc this is the thread Merlin-mun and I worked out)
Giles had decided that he had to have some sort of income, if he was, as was increasingly obvious, going to be trapped here for some time. He had plenty of job experience, but like everyone else who'd arrived here, he had no credentials or proof of his degrees. If he tried to go back into library work, he'd have to start out shelving, and that definitely didn't appeal to him. Museum work was out too, between the lack of papers and the lack of a suitable institution around here.
There was, however, a small magic shop not far from the apartments, in walking distance. Giles couldn't be an owner of his own shop here as he'd been in Sunnydale, mainly because he didn't have the funds, but also because the magic here was different than it was back home. He was able to get a job working at it, however. It felt a little strange starting out all over again, but it would prove useful in learning more about the magics, he surmised, and perhaps allow him to work his way up.
At the moment, he was on his way to work, relieved to be back in his own body after the strange body switch experience. He still thought it seemed like Ethan Rayne's style, but there was no indication the chaos loving magician was here. Or that his magics would even work if he were. Apparently an entity called the Trickster was behind it. Regardless, Giles was happy to be himself again.
There were a few people out and about, heading off for various items of business. Giles didn't know that one of them was about to intersect with him in a rather interesting experience.
