Pike stood slowly, keeping both hands up with his palms facing her. He could tell she was freaked and didn't want to aggravate that further. At the same time, he wasn't going to take it back. Now that it was finally out in the open, he couldn't take it back. He didn't move toward her, but he did turn to face her. "There is nothing on this or any world I wouldn't do for you," he told her. "I would die for you." He would kill for her, too, although he hoped he'd never have to.
He'd even sell his soul for her.
"Except taking it back," he told her, his voice soft but firm. "That's something I can't do, Faith. Love isn't really the kind of thing you just take back." He smiled gently. "I'm not going to hurt you, Faith. I never want to hurt you. Even with my brains scrambled, even hallucinating that kid, even with the feeling of things crawling all over me, do you want to know what scared me the most?" He gave her a second, but it wasn't really a question he was aiming for an answer to. "The thought of you going out there and getting yourself hurt or-" His voice broke. He didn't even want to say it. "Or worse. Even with everything else that was going on, that was the most terrifying thing."
Then he did start moving toward her, slowly, one step at a time. "I will never leave you. I will never give up on you. No matter what you do, no matter what happens, I will always be here, right by your side." He tried to catch her eyes. "I'll be right here, for as long as you'll have me."
